Paying attention to our everyday bustle, boring and modest interiors, as well as the popularity of minimalism, let's make this serving table of a past era, which would have the grace of court furniture, but was not devoid of modernity.

A little background

This idea was inspired by not only the desire to have a piece of something from the past, but a funny and interesting film. One evening, having decided to watch something new from cinema, I typed “www.ivi.ru” into the search engine and came across a wonderful film that told the story of the formation of the monarchy. It was at that moment that inspiration struck, which did not leave me until the end of the work.

Throughout the film, I admired the grace of all the interior details in the kingdom's castle. I was so carried away by all sorts of little things that I completely did not notice the characters in the film. But the film soon ended, and in order to somehow distract myself from the obsession of starting to make this table at twelve at night, I decided to www.ivi.ru on the same site.

Necessary materials for the product:

LDSP (laminated chipboard);
- plywood 6 mm thick;
- plywood 12mm thick;
- round wooden block about 1.5 cm in diameter;
- special wood putty, you can use absolutely any color;
- metal round fittings with thread;
- 4 blocks measuring 50*40 mm;
- 2 blocks measuring 1.5*1.5 cm;
- beautiful self-adhesive film (opaque);

Preparatory work

First, we draw on paper a suitable template of a flower and a leaf, the required sizes and shapes (but don’t get too carried away, you still have to cut it out); choose the width and height of our table and mark the required space on the plywood; Now let’s lay out and trace the flowers cut out of paper; We slightly adjust the drawing on the plywood, add branches to the flowers and leaves, and fill in the voids. Now we start cutting out the sketch with a jigsaw, using a figure saw, then carefully sand and paint the ends. And also the inside of the plywood.

Important tip: the jigsaw file must be sharp throughout the entire cutting process - replace it with a new one more often, then your pattern will be smooth and without beveled edges. From laminated chipboard we cut out 2 side panels for attaching the handles, putty the ends, make recesses and small holes for the screws, attach a round piece of wood pre-cut to size, putty the heads of our screws, sand them completely, and then paint the entire handle.

Cutting out the top and bottom parts

We cut out two rectangles from laminated chipboard - these are the upper and lower tabletops; at first we already marked out how wide our table will be. Again we make recesses for the screws in the upper part of the first table top where the legs will be attached, and in the lower part of the table top where the handles are installed, we do all this with a small drill so that the chipboard does not fall apart.

We screw the handle to the top tabletop, fill the screws and cut edges of the tabletop, sand everything and paint. Now we take our self-adhesive film and glue it only to the top of the tabletop. Now we attach the remaining legs with self-tapping screws and also putty. We cut out a stand for all sorts of bottles from plywood and sand it.

Connecting all the big parts

Now we have already screwed all the legs and handles, there is only a small matter left. We take our sawn surface, which we cut out at the very beginning, and fasten it with screws on the right and left sides. After that, we attach the shelf for bottles to the shelf holders.

How to make a serving table on wheels with your own hands
A serving table is, of course, not an essential thing, but it is so convenient when you need to bring food from the kitchen for everyone to watch your favorite show on TV or just drink tea with friends on the veranda of your dacha, and you need to bring cups in your hands to several techniques.

The dimensions of the table are as follows: height - 0.9 m; width - 0.4 m; length - 1 m.
This table is made from leftovers wooden materials. You will need two long sidewalls with a length of 0.7 m and a section of 15 by 25 mm; two short sidewalls 0.6 m long and the same cross-section; 17 pcs. connecting strips 33 cm long; two legs 87 cm long and 15 mm in diameter; 2 pcs. holders for wheels 110 cm long; handle 35 cm long; load-bearing elements of the axle and the wheels themselves with a diameter of 25 cm.
First, we select the wheels and axle for them. We cut out the elements of the table from wood and sand them thoroughly.
We assemble the frame from the sidewalls, connecting strips, supporting elements of the axle, legs, wheel holders and handles.
We fasten the parts with PVA glue and self-tapping screws. The grooves in the wheel holders must be made very accurately so that the supporting element of the axle is held firmly.
The suspension axle can be made from a wooden rod with a diameter of 22-25 mm and a groove of about 28 mm can be made in the casing so that the axle can move freely.
The table drawers are made of 15 mm thick plywood. External surfaces can be decorated with wooden planks. The suspension axle must be firmly attached to the box, because it is a holder and a handle at the same time.
The screws and bolts that fasten the table parts must be recessed into the wood.
The movable axle is attached with screws to the underside of the support bar of the holder.
We cover the table with paint or two layers of varnish.

Full tables and small tables are very important practical elements in home furnishing, especially when it comes to the kitchen or dining room. Small kitchen table on wheels can become an important functional addition to any family.

In this publication, we will look at an example of how you can make a modern mobile kitchen table from maple wood with your own hands. His working surface made of dense boards, and the entire structure is placed on swivel wheels, with which you can easily move the table to any place.

Study the structure of the table in our example well, then buy all the necessary components for its manufacture (maple wood, swivel wheels, fittings - see below), get everything necessary tools(see below), and only then start production. § To make this mobile table, you need the following tools and materials ↓

Tools – workbench with vice and clamps; compass; pencil; ruler; square; lamellar router; 4 weima; good set of clamps; electric hacksaw; end plane; tzinubel; drilling machine; Forstner drill with a diameter of 25 mm; twist drills with a diameter of 3 and 5 mm and a twist drill corresponding to the diameter of the bolts of the swivel wheels; chisel 15 mm wide; mallet; frame bow saw; router with work table; groove cutter with a diameter of 12 mm; knife; tenon saw; jointer; screwdriver; sanding block; countersink drill; a wrench to match the size of the steering wheel bolts; brush. We will also need other useful tools: cordless screwdriver; Grinder; electric drill; dividing compass; marking knife; band-saw.

Materials – maple blanks (see specification below); packaging of lamellas; PVA glue; sandpaper with grit from 150 to 300; 4 swivel wheels with built-in braking devices (total height of the wheel unit is about 100 mm); Danish oil for exterior finishing kitchen table; 28 stainless steel screws with countersunk heads; stainless steel hanger with fittings.

Specification – 5 boards 630 × 140 × 30 mm (tabletop); 4 bars 710 × 50 × 50 mm (legs); 2 boards 530 × 80 × 20 mm (side planks); 1 board 510 × 80 × 20 mm (back plank); 4 bars 550 × 30 × 30 mm (spacers); 10 boards 590 × 70 × 12 mm (slats for shelves) – all maple blanks.

§ We make a small kitchen table on wheels with our own hands: manufacturing stages

1 . Place five tabletop boards on the workbench close to each other so that the grain directions at the ends of adjacent boards do not coincide. Mark the locations for the slats in the center and 50mm from the ends. Set the lamella router to 15mm and select the slots for the lamellas in all the boards. Remove dust, apply glue to the slats and sockets, connect the boards and clamp with three clamps and additional clamps (Fig. 1).

2 . Mark top and bottom on all legs. Mark 25mm square sockets along the center line at a distance of 225mm from the top and 95mm from the bottom. Draw diagonals to determine the locations of the leg bolts. Drill sockets 40mm deep using a 25mm Forstner drill bit. Drill holes in the lower ends of the legs corresponding to the diameter of the wheel block bolts (Fig. 2). If you purchased a different size wheel blocks, be sure to adjust the length of the legs accordingly.

3 . Press the legs to the workbench with clamps. Using a chisel and mallet, select blind square sockets with a side of 25 mm and a depth of 40 mm around the drilled holes (Fig. 3). Clean the bottoms of the nests and remove waste. When selecting sockets, do not rest the chisel on the edge of the socket.

4 . Mark the tenons on the spacers at a distance of 40 mm from the ends. After this, set the cutting depth of the frame bow saw to 2.5 mm and cut out the shoulders of the tenons (see Fig. 4). Then clean off the tenons with a chisel. Try do the shoulders are rectangular so that the tenons are flush with the surfaces of the legs. Be sure to check the structure for squareness with a square.

5 . Mark grooves 75 mm long, 12 mm wide and 20 mm deep at the ends of the legs, positioning them so that the planks, entering the grooves, are at a distance of 10 mm from the front surface. Attach the router to the workbench, install slot cutter 12 mm and a guide bar of 14 mm, press the limiting block from scrap wood with a clamp at a distance of 75 mm and select the grooves (Fig. 5). 6 . Make marks on the planks at a distance of 20 mm from the ends. Cut tenons 20 mm long, 75 mm wide and 12 mm thick. Using a knife, trim the back sides so that the tenons fit into the open 12mm grooves (Fig. 6).

7 . Plane the surface of the glued tabletop with a jointer. Using a lamellar router, select grooves on the inner surfaces of both side planks. Using a tenon saw, cut ties and fixing blocks of suitable sizes from scrap wood (Fig. 7). Clean up your workbench and remove all small debris with a vacuum cleaner. If the surface of your workbench is heavily scratched or has dried glue stains, place a sheet of clean plywood on it. It is very important that the surface is completely clean. Place the table top face down on a workbench or plywood and dry attach the legs, spacers and slats to it for testing (without glue).

If you are satisfied with the final result of the assembly, apply glue to the joints and tighten with clamps. After the glue has dried, remove the clamps, attach the ties and fixing blocks securing the tabletop to the planks with screws to the desired places, and use a chisel and sandpaper to remove traces of the dried glue.

Helpful advice !

To prevent the drill from vibrating and when working with a countersink drill, the edges of the hole are not charred, set the drill depth stop to 5 mm, and then quickly and firmly lower and raise the drill. Before the drill bit touches the wood, make sure the drill is running at full speed.

8 . Make two shelf plank templates from scrap wood and mark the positions of the screw holes on them at a distance of 25 mm from the ends. One template should have one hole in the middle, the second should have two holes at a distance of 20 mm from the edges. Make sure the markings are correct.

Using these templates, use a 5 mm diameter twist drill to drill holes in all the planks and countersink them (Fig. 8). After drilling each hole, turn off the machine and use a brush to remove sawdust from the corners of the template. Work carefully to keep the holes clean.

9 . Remove sawdust and wood waste from the workbench and place the table on it with the top down so that the ends of the legs are at a comfortable height for you. Use keys to strengthen wheels(Fig. 9). Go over the entire piece with an end plane, smoothing out the ends and sharp corners. Make sure all remaining adhesive is removed. Move the table to a bright one daylight and carefully inspect the areas around the joints. To test, you can apply White Spirit to the surface with a brush - this will show where traces of glue remain. Brush sawdust off the product and remove wood dust with a cotton cloth.

10 . Move to a clean area and use a brush to apply a thin layer of Danish oil to all surfaces of the table and ten prepared slats. Place planks with two holes at the ends on the spacers so that they fit snugly against the legs, and the ends are flush with the side edges of the legs (Fig. 10). Drill installation holes with a diameter of 3 mm and attach the strips with screws. Place the remaining planks with one hole at the ends between them at a distance of 30 mm from each other and attach them with screws. To ensure equal spacing, cut a 30mm wide strip of scrap wood and lay it between adjacent strips before inserting the screws. Attach the hanger in place.

Detailed instructions for cutting blanks and assembling a serving table

1. We mark the parts of the table top and bottom shelf on the wood block, having the same rounding radius (about 225 mm). We cut it out using a jigsaw or a router with a compass.
   
   
2. When deciding how to make a serving table according to all the rules, we mill the blanks along the radius in several passes, each time going deeper by about 5 mm. Having cut out both elements, we round their edges with a milling cutter (radius 9.5 mm).
3. Select according to the template in the countertop round hole for the handle by installing a groove cutter and a copy sleeve on the milling machine.
   
   
4. Take a blank for the side wall. We cut out a rotary stop from it, which will hold the folding element of the lid. For work we use a jigsaw with a fine-toothed file. We cut at high speeds, then the cut will be smooth.
5. We drill holes for dowels in the ends of the side walls and in the table top. To create an ideal pairing, we use markers (for marking mating sockets) and a stencil conductor (for precision drilling). Trying to make the serving table beautiful, we carefully sand the parts before assembly. We round the open edges with a cutter with a radius of 6.35 mm.
   We connect the tabletop with the lower shelf with the side walls, coating the dowels and the walls of the sockets with glue. First, we fasten the side panel with the cutout to the shelf, then install the second side wall.
   
   
6. Before gluing the table top and side walls on dowels, we insert a rotary stop with a radius of 120 mm into place. We don't use glue here. A washer must be put on the lower dowel with a diameter of 6 mm.
7. We assemble the drawers on dowels or connect them using the dovetail method. In the sides of the drawers, we cut out grooves for the bottoms using a milling cutter. We glue plywood parts into them. TO outside We attach telescopic guides to the sides.
   
   
8. We cut out homemade rollers with a diameter of 140 mm. On the end side of the roller we cut out a groove 12 mm wide with a milling cutter. We will install an O-ring in it with glue, which will work like a wheel tire. The axles of the wheels are dowels ∅ 15 mm, recessed (also with glue) into the bottom shelf by 40 mm.
9. TO internal parties We attach guides to the side walls. After that in front panels drawer holes, handles ∅ 25 mm. We put the boxes in place.
   
   
10. To hide the piano hinge for folding the table top, we select 1.5 mm deep folds on the edges of the lid and the folding part.
11. We are preparing a 4 mm thick template for bending the duralumin tube. We adjust the tube, bent along a radius of 200 mm, to the planned length of the fence.
    
    
12. We put the racks on the duralumin arch. We insert the ends of the tube into 8 mm sockets drilled in the inner side of the table. At the same time, install the racks in the pre-drilled holes.
