Where are the pine trees on the shore in Montenegro? Beaches of Montenegro. Types of beaches in Montenegro: sandy, pebble and concrete

Even if you're a fan of soft white sand, you should at least once walk on the warming pebbles and watch the sea waves wash away the stones and shape them unusual shape, and also swim in Montenegrin gorges, where you feel unity with nature.

Sveti Stefan Beach

One of the cleanest and most elite beaches in Montenegro. Here green vegetation with the smell of pine needles, medieval motifs and privacy are combined. It is especially interesting because it is divided into two by a small isthmus, one of which is used by guests of the Aman Sveti Stefan hotel. However, for 100 euros anyone can spend a day here. The beach has coarse sand interspersed with small pebbles, snow-white sun loungers and umbrellas. The second beach on the left side of the isthmus is free. Here you will find fairly large pebbles of a pinkish color, which, contrary to public opinion, will not cut your feet and will be very pleasant to the touch. Both beaches are good in terms of amenities, cleanliness and location. The beach is located in a bay, so there are no big waves here - this is a plus for families with children. There is paid parking near the beach, 2 euros per hour.

Lucice beach

This beach is located on the shores of the famous resort town of Petrovac na More. Small pebbles mixed with sand, a gentle entrance to the water and a rapid increase in depth - this is exactly what you will find on Lucica. Despite everything, there is absolutely clear water and enchanting views! You are surrounded everywhere! Despite the fame of Lucice and the constant flow of tourists to the city, there are not many people on the beach; mostly married couples relax here. The beach is considered quite secluded, so you can enjoy the coolness of the Adriatic Sea and sunbathe. There is everything for you here comfortable rest: sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, changing cabins and showers, water slides for children, and very close to the beach there are cafes and restaurants.

Becici Beach

Located three kilometers from Budva, a city where thousands of tourists stop every year, and life in summer time boils. This beach is also conducive to family holidays: there is a clean coastline, small pebbles, which, however, many Montenegrins consider sand, a long descent into the sea, so the depth is not immediately felt. The beach is well-maintained: there are sun loungers for rent, changing cabins and showers. For a refreshing drink, head to one of the open bars nearby. For lovers of active recreation and for those who prefer to combine business with pleasure, there is a rental of catamarans and jet skis on the coast. You can also enjoy sailing.

Jaz Beach

This is one of the most popular beaches in Montenegro. The coast near Budva is surrounded on both sides by the Strazha and Grbalj mountains, which creates a pleasant effect of a comfortable closedness of the bay. This is especially attractive to those who are afraid of the open sea. The beach is relatively uncrowded even in the hot season, so no one will stop you from enjoying your holiday. Part of the beach is sandy, but it is not so large, and from the very morning it is filled with guests of nearby hotels and local residents. The rest is pebbles familiar to Montenegro. The main advantage of pebbles is that you will not need additional foot massage; small stones will do everything for you. For those who want to completely free themselves from the shackles of swimwear, the beach also has a “nudist” area, but the Ada Boyana nudist beach is better for this.

Velika Plaza Beach

The largest beach near the city of Ulcinj, characterized by many narrow streets, a jumble of small houses and a series of endless ones. This beach is sandy, which is why it is so popular with tourists who are not used to pebbles. There is a gentle, even descent into the sea, so relaxing on the beach will be comfortable not only for couples, but also for children. Near the shore, in extreme heat, the water may become slightly cloudy, but at depth this is out of the question - the bottom is always transparent here. In total, there are about ten separate recreation areas of varying degrees of amenities on the beach, and kitesurfing stations have been built in the deserted areas of the southern part.

Before my vacation, I, like many tourists, read reviews about Montenegro and its beaches. But unfortunately, I discovered that there is very little information that interests me about the beaches, so I want to tell you, I hope it will be useful to someone;)

During our two weeks in Montenegro, we visited a number of beaches. I'll start in order:

1. Slovenian beach.

Located directly in Budva, small pebbles mixed with large ones. Entrance to the beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent). It’s better to go to the left to swim, where the sea is much cleaner than towards the old city and port. We wore it twice (the first and last days), both times we lay on a blanket, free of charge. There are a lot of people, especially on weekends, there are a lot of local people. I don’t recommend lying down near the water, you will lie like a herring in a jar and people from the back rows will literally step on your head to get to the water. We were lying in the back rows, it was more comfortable there. The water is clean (I repeat, this is to the left, towards Becici).

If you go towards the Old Town and the port, the water is much dirtier, we were just passing by there.

2. Beaches Mogren 1 and Mogren 2.

Located behind the Old Town in Budva. Both beaches are small pebbles. Mogren 2 has fewer people than Mogren 1, but still a lot. Entrance to the beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent). We were unlucky and were lying on a blanket near the water. Since there were a lot of people, people constantly walked past us and covered us with pebbles. This did not spoil the impressions, but I advise you to try to take a place further away, so that you don’t pass by, but you walk past others to the water;) The water is much cleaner than on the Slovenian beach. Been there once.

3. Beach Richardova Chapter.

You can get to the beach directly from the Old Town of Budva. The beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent), small pebbles. I didn’t like it at all, I’m glad we were only there for a couple of hours. The bottom of the sea is terrible, huge muddy rocks. It is better to enter the sea from the side, near the wall of the old city, there is a ladder there. Unfortunately we didn't take a photo.

4. Kamenovo Beach.

From Budva it takes 7 minutes by bus to the famous island of Sveti Stefan. The stop is called Kamenovo. The bus may not stop there, so follow the map where to get off and if the bus does not slow down, ask the driver to stop. The fare is 1.5 euros per person one way. You can also get to the beach on foot from the Rafailovici beach (located in the same name locality) through a pedestrian tunnel. So we went back to Budva. It’s a little closer to Rafailovici and the ticket will cost 1 euro per person one way.

The Kamenovo beach itself is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent), small pebbles. There are half as many people as on Slovenska Beach. Finding a place to lie down on a towel was no problem. The sea is blue, transparent, clean.

5. Przno Beach

From Budva it takes 8 minutes by bus to the famous island of Sveti Stefan. This is the next beach after Kamenovo. The fare is 1.5 euros per person one way. The beach is free, umbrellas and sunbeds are paid (two sunbeds and an umbrella 50 euros, I saw a sign on the beach). We were lying on a towel, small pebbles. The crowd is average, there is very little room for sunbathing on a towel. In the morning on the beach the sun shines at your back, so you can lie down and look at the sea without wincing. The sea is clean, there are a lot of private boats. However, for sunbathers, and that’s me, it’s not very comfortable to lie with your head towards the sea.

From Przno you can walk to Sveti Stefan beach, along a path between pine trees, in the shade. Very beautiful views They will open for you, you can sit down and have a small picnic.

6. Sveti Stefan Beach.

From Budva it’s about 10 minutes by bus to the famous island of Sveti Stefan. The fare is 1.5 euros per person one way. To the right of the island is the hotel beach, they are not allowed there. To the left of the island there is a free beach, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent). At the very beginning of the beach there are large pebbles; lying on a towel is not very comfortable. If you go to the left, the pebbles will be small, we liked it better there. One of the most beautiful beaches of the Budva Riviera. We liked it the most. The sea is azure, very clean and beautiful. There are three, or even four times less people than on the Slovensko and Mogren beaches.

7. Yaz Beach.

It takes about 7 minutes by bus or taxi (towards Kotor) We took a taxi for 3 euros for two one way. The bus costs 2 euros for two one way. The beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent), it’s very large, there are a lot of people, but if you go to the left again, there will be half as many people. The pebbles were medium, lying on the towel was comfortable. The sea is clean.

If you go completely to the left, there will be very few people, but among them we saw half of the nudists, so we decided to go back a little))))

8. Trsteno Beach.

The next beach after Jaz beach. We went there in the evening in a rented car. We didn't swim, we just looked. The beach itself is free, sunbeds and sunbeds are paid, but there is no place to lie down on your own towel, everything is filled with sunbeds. It is better to come to this beach with small children, as it takes a very long time to walk to the depths. The beach is very small, small pebbles, the sea is blue and clean.

9. Ploce Beach.

The next beach after Trsteno beach. We went there in the evening in a rented car. We didn't swim, we just looked. The beach itself is concrete, there is no place to lie down on your own towel, everything is filled with sun loungers, and I think lying on concrete is not very comfortable. There is a swimming pool on the beach that is filled with sea water. The music is playing loudly, it feels like you are at a party. You cannot bring your own food and drinks, only buy them at the bar.

A country famous for its magnificent clean beaches. We can say that the beaches are one of the main reasons for its popularity among tourists, so the state carefully monitors the condition of the coastal zone.

Beach Features

There are practically no private beaches, but there are “closed areas”. For example, only guests of local hotels or restaurant visitors can access the beach of Sveti Stefan Island.

Entrance to all beaches is free for everyone (with the exception of a few elite beaches). The government prohibits hotels from even building decorative fences.

Sun beds and umbrellas on the beaches of Montenegro are paid. Having tanned once, you can sunbathe comfortably all day long.

Types of beaches

The length of the coastline of Montenegro is more than 70 kilometers, so there are beaches for every taste. There are three main types: sand, pebble and concrete (on pontoons).

1. Sandy beaches in Montenegro are a rarity. Almost all of them are located in the south of the country, near Ulcinj, and are of artificial origin. The cleanliness of such beaches depends on the number of tourists.

2. Pebble beaches in Montenegro are more common than others, which is not surprising - the country is mountainous! The size of the pebbles ranges from very small to large cobblestones.

3. The concrete beaches of Montenegro no longer surprise anyone. Many people purposefully choose them because it is very convenient to go down to the sea using a ladder, and lying on a flat, warm surface is more practical than on sand or rocks. Tourists also note the steep descent into the water: you don’t have to walk hundreds of meters into the sea.

In Montenegro, beaches are usually divided into Rivieras. Their names usually coincide with the name of the nearest major city. Each Riviera is unique.

Budva Riviera

The Budva Riviera includes: Budva, Rafailovici, Becici, Petrovac, Sutomor, Sveti Stefan and Milocer. Local beaches are sandy, with good infrastructure. It is in the Budva Riviera that the most expensive beach of the King and Queen is located (entrance costs more than 50 euros per person).

Kotor Riviera

The main cities of the Kotor Riviera: Kotor, Perast and Risan. The beaches here are mostly concrete, but this is compensated by stunning scenery and an interesting cultural program. Boat trips and trips on cruise ships are very popular.

Hercegnovskaya Riviera

The Hercegnovskaya Riviera includes Herceg Novi, Igalo, Melina and Kumbor. The beaches here are different: from sandy to large-pebble. The Hercegnovskaya Riviera is famous for its mineral springs, healing mud and many health resorts.

Ulcinj Riviera

Ulcinj Riviera is the southernmost and hottest region of Montenegro on the border with Albania. Local beaches are sandy, unprotected from the sun by mountains and forests (as in other regions). The Ulcinj Riviera is famous for its proximity to Albania and its beautiful olive groves.

Riviera Bar

The Bar Riviera is perhaps the most unusual region of Montenegro. The city of Bar is a large business and industrial center with office blocks and a commercial port. There are fewer tourists here than, for example, in Budva or Tivat, so prices are lower. The beach in Bar is pebbly, there are few swimmers. Tourists come here mainly for shopping.

Riviera Tivat

The city of Tivat is a young and still relatively “free” resort; there is enough space on the beaches for everyone. There are few beaches in Tivat itself, but there are more than enough in the area. Most of them are pebbly.

The pearl of Europe, Montenegro, is a very small country, but it could comfortably accommodate 177 beaches, of which a third are sandy beaches, where people like to swim and sunbathe not only local residents, but also tourists coming from everywhere. If you are interested in a nudist beach, it is worth visiting Ada Bojana, which is very popular among Europeans. What are the best beaches in this picturesque resort country? Look at the list recommended by most travel agencies and vacationers, some of whom are ready to return here more than once.

1. Big beach
Ulcinj was named the most economical resort in Europe by the American website Price of travel. The most famous vacation spot here is the thirteen-kilometer Big Beach.

2. Jaz Beach
Just three kilometers from Budva lies the best beach in Montenegro - the thousand-two-hundred-meter long Jaz beach, one of sixteen officially registered sandy beaches. Other popular beaches are located nearby: the small sandy beach of Trsteno, the stone beach of Ploce, Mogren on the spurs of steep cliffs and the romantic beaches of the island of St. Nikola. The total length of Budva's beaches exceeds eleven kilometers.

Beaches of St. Nicholas Island

3. Opatovo beach
On the eastern coast of the Bay of Kotor there is the smallest (only 31 km) riviera called Tivat.
Very close to the city of Tivat there is a two hundred and twenty-meter long Opatovo beach, covered in some parts with sand. The beach is divided in two, when oriented towards the lighthouse located there. The beach is ideal for families, including small children and elderly relatives.

The shallow sea and gentle slopes provide real comfort for swimming in well-warmed water. Fragrant forests consisting of olives and pine trees are a real natural decoration of many beaches of the Tivat Riviera.

4. Seljanovo beach, about 1700 meters long, is located at the cape of the same name near Tivat and the Verige Strait. In addition to sand, this beach also has pebbles. The epic nature of the landscape of these places is ensured by large smooth rocks.

5. Becici Beach
The entire town stretches along a one and a half kilometer sandy beach, recognized as one of the top Montenegrin vacation spots, where you can sunbathe and swim with the whole family and a friendly group of young people. Girls who appreciate light beach desserts from colorful Balkan bars love to sunbathe here.

6. Red Beach, Bar - this is a picturesque wild beach with reddish sand.

7. Queen's Beach, Milocer is intended for those who love an intimate holiday with special service.

8. Petrovac beach is a cozy place for a relaxing holiday with guaranteed comfort.

The Adriatic in Montenegro is the sunniest corner of Europe, where everyone can find a place to relax at sea, in accordance with their preferences and capabilities. Choose the best!

.

Where are the best beaches in Montenegro? Every tourist asks this question when he flies to the Adriatic coast for the first time. The length of Montenegrin Primorye is 300 km, it is divided into Budva, Bar, Ulcinj rivieras and the Bay of Kotor.

Each corner is unique, the beaches, architecture and landscapes are different from each other. I, as a resident of Montenegro, will take the liberty of unbiasedly talking about the main resorts and best beaches of Montenegro, highlighting the pros and cons.

It includes such resorts as Becici, Sveti Stefan, Przno, Buljarica and Rafailovici.

Budva

Budva is the noisiest, funniest and interesting city V summer season. Great for students, groups of friends and those young at heart. Budva constantly hosts festivals, holidays, and there are many discos. Every year, world-famous stars perform here - Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Jamiroquai, etc. The best restaurants, beer bars, water attractions for every taste, excellent bus service, all kinds of excursions - Budva has almost everything for relaxation!

The downside is the noise until 1 am, when street discos by law turn off the music. In August, Budva is very hot, polluted and crowded. The last factor is the most depressing; you will have to walk single file along the embankment. To swim in the clear sea, it is better to choose the morning hours or leave Budva in search of more worthy places. The best months for a holiday in Budva, when you will enjoy your holiday, are May, June, September and October.

Neighboring towns

A worthy alternative in the Budva Riviera will be the neighboring towns, where it is quieter, the beaches are freer and the holiday will cost less. It is better to go with children to Becici And Rafailovichi, since there are wide beaches of sand and small pebbles. For wealthy people who love a relaxing holiday, I recommend renting a villa from Sveti Stefan Islands or in Petrovce.

Beaches

I recommend it in Budva itself Mogren beach, it is located behind the mountain, here is the cleanest sea in the city, a pleasant entrance and small pebbles. Opposite the city is St. Nicholas Island, where boats run from morning to evening for 3 euros. Distance from the noisy city, clear water, summer restaurant under the pine trees, a cafe with trendy music and sun loungers - perfect place for youth recreation!

The best beaches in the Budva Riviera are those that have no cities nearby. You can get to them by local bus for 1 - 2 euros; the schedule is available at the stops of the Adriatic Highway. You can also take a taxi, depending on the distance it will cost 3 – 5 euros.

One of the most popular - two-kilometer Jaz beach, is located immediately after the tunnels after Budva, it left-hand side intended for nudists. There is a beach in the next cove Trsteno with white sand and a gentle entrance, ideal for children. Drive even further and you'll reach the beach. Ploche, it consists of large pebbles and concrete. Ploce has a restaurant, children's pools, a daytime disco and everything you need for relaxation. This place is chosen by locals and those who are looking for the cleanest sea without crowds of tourists.

On the other side of Budva, I recommend the beach Kamenovo, is located right behind Rafailovichi, you can walk through the tunnels in the mountains or take a bus or taxi. Hidden from the eyes of tourists and beloved by Montenegrins are the beaches Crvena Glavica, Skochidevojka, Perazicha Do And Fractional pesak. You can easily find them on the map and can get there by taxi. These are the most secluded coves of the Budva Riviera, where no more than 20-30 people will lie on the beach next to you.

If you love luxurious beaches, then go to, here for 50 or 75 euros you can feel like royalty, relaxing on pink sand, swimming in emerald water.

Bar Riviera

Bar

Bar - not really tourist town, since there is a seaport here. But its surroundings are great for beach holiday. Near Mount Rumia there is a place where you should definitely explore the ruins and preserved palaces, an aqueduct, and churches. This city is very tolerant; Catholics, Orthodox and Muslims get along well in Bar. The advantages of the resort are the low cost of food, apartment rentals and tourist services compared to Budva. There is also a wide embankment where you can skateboard, bike or stroll in the evenings.

Major resorts

The main resorts of the Bar Riviera are Bar, Shushan, Sutomore, Uteha, Dobra Vody. The advantage of this region is its proximity to the railway station, which is located in Bar and Sutomore. The infrastructure in many hotels remains from the times of Yugoslavia, so you should not choose old properties. It is better to rent an apartment or apartment in a private villa. Stunning sunsets and beautiful landscapes are the main advantages of these towns.

Beaches

The most inaccessible and alluring is Queen's Beach, it is better to get to it by boat or yacht. In Chanya Bay in the cypresses and pines there is Pearl Beach, separated by a rock. If you are a wave lover, then go to Canj.

To admire the underwater world with a mask and fins, I recommend going to Malevik Bay near the village of Zagrazhde. South of Bar are the villages of Dubrava, Utekha and Dobry Vody. This area abounds beautiful places, but rather suitable for a wild and cheap holiday. The downside of the beaches is that they are stone or have large pebbles. Entering the sea is inconvenient, but for those who like to dive from the shore this is only a plus. One of the best beaches is Red Beach (Crvena), got its name because of the shade of pebbles covering the shore.

Ulcinj Riviera

The sunniest and warmest region in Montenegro is the Ulcinj Riviera. It includes the resorts of Ada Boyana, Ulcinj, Valdanos, Velika Plazha and Kruce. The advantages include excellent weather, incredible sandy beaches and low prices on absolutely everything. Of the minuses - a large number of population of Albanian origin. But you shouldn’t be afraid of them, they are the same Montenegrins, they just have a different appearance, speak two languages and are not our Slavic brothers.

Ulcinj

If you want to see a Montenegrin city of contrasts, filled with European and oriental flavors at the same time, then go to Ulcinj! It has an Old Town with museums, fortress walls and ancient buildings. Although the small beach in the city itself is famous for its white healing sand, I would not recommend swimming on the city beach.

The best beaches in Montenegro for women and children

Velika plaza(Big Beach) is the most popular holiday destination in the Ulcinj Riviera, and it is not for nothing that it is included in the best beaches in Montenegro. This is 15 km of sand along the Adriatic Sea, believe me - there is enough room for everyone! Families with small children love to relax here, because the entrance to the sea is smooth and long, with volcanic sand underfoot. Sun beds with umbrellas cost about 5 euros per set, prices in restaurants are cheap. And what waves and colorful parachutes of kitesurfers there are here! Both Europeans and Russians come to Ulcinj to ride the waves. For beginners, there are kite stations where you can quickly learn the water sport.

Women's beach located between the Albatross and Galeb hotels, I recommend all girls to come here for at least half an hour. It is believed that it heals with its sand and mud and helps overcome infertility. Among the pebble beaches of the Ulcinj Riviera, I recommend visiting Valdano And Cooler. They are surrounded by olive groves and attract with privacy.

Ada-Boyana was the most popular resort for nudists in Yugoslavia. On the island, between the Boyana River and the Adriatic Sea, old complexes still stand. You can stay in them or in a luxurious weekend house on the river bank. If you love sunbathing naked on the sand, love it big waves and silence, then this is the place for you! Ada Boyana has another advantage - the best fish restaurants on the river are located here. But it will be difficult to get there without a car; it is better to rent one or take a taxi.

Bay of Kotor

The most beautiful landscapes and ancient cities with Venetian architecture are located in the bay; it is included in the TOP 25 most luxurious bays in the world. And although there is almost no open sea here, the resorts of Boka Kotorska are very popular.

It is divided into four parts: Risan, Kotor, Herceg-Nova and Tivat bays. Each has a main city, as well as small resort or fishing villages.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the Lustica peninsula, where the villages of Rose, Bigovo, Zanice Beach and the Blue Cave are located. But these places are for people who want to escape civilization and connect with nature.

Kotor

The main city in the bay is Kotor. Its old town, powerful fortress wall, and charming fjord attract tourists all year round. But its main disadvantage is the lack of a beach and a port for cruise ships. Therefore, Kotor is only suitable for walking, shopping, and gatherings in cafes with views of ancient palaces.

The closest beach to it is in the village of Dobrota, where you can walk in half an hour. Among the popular resorts I can highlight Risan, Kumbor, Prcanj, Orahovac, Herceg Novi, Djenovici, Seljanovo, Baosici, Igalo, Perast, Zelenika. They have good beaches, small cafes and shops.

Where not to swim

Where you shouldn't settle for the beaches is in Bijela due to the presence of a repair shipyard. And also, you shouldn’t count on the city beach in Tivat, since the largest yacht marina, Porto Montenegro, is located here. This is the most modern and luxurious part of Montenegro, where it is nice to stroll and have lunch, but because of the yachts the sea is dirty. You will have to constantly go to the beaches of Plavi Horizont, Kolardovo, Island of Flowers or to Selyanovo.

Health resort in Igalo

If you want to get medical treatment, you should go to Igalo, here is the popular health resort named after Yugoslavia. Simo Milosevic. Thanks to mineral springs from the mountains and weakly radioactive mud, the Center treats the musculoskeletal system and various skin diseases. Pulmonary diseases in Igalo also resolve very quickly due to the special climate, shallow water and Mediterranean vegetation.

Herceg Novi

If you want to combine beaches with walking and sightseeing, then choose Herceg Novi. This is the cultural center of the Bay of Kotor; during Yugoslav times, artists, writers, and diplomats loved to relax here.

Streets of Herceg Novi

Herceg Novi is called the city of 1000 steps, and this is its biggest disadvantage. It is located on a slope, and even the Old Town is at the top. Therefore, in the summer heat it will be unpleasant to constantly climb stairs. But this city has a long embankment connected to Igalo. It’s nice to walk along it in the evenings, sit in street restaurants with live music.

By the way, Herceg Novi is the only city in the bay that has access to the sea. The sea water is cleaner, and there are much more sunny days than in other cities in the region. And the last advantage of a holiday here is the proximity to Croatia. If you have a Croatian or Schengen visa, you can go to Dubrovnik, the journey will take only one hour.

As you can see, resorts in Montenegro are very diverse; everyone can choose a city and beach to suit their taste. I hope that my tips will be useful when planning your holiday on the Adriatic!
