How to glue the wallpaper correctly in order to enjoy the result for a long time. How to ensure successful wallpapering What is needed for wallpapering a tool

The modern joint roller is a handy and common tool used for painting wallpaper, walls and other surfaces. A feature of this tool is the ability to work at joints. With this roller, you can easily paint the wallpaper.

The selected joint roller will ensure a good gluing of the wallpaper

The main purpose of such a tool is to roll wallpaper joints. Due to its characteristic appearance, the device was named "keg". Externally, the tool is a tapered roller equipped with a handle. It is very convenient for rolling the joint of two wallpaper towels. This allows you to hide the junction of the sheets so that it is not visible. Such a tool is also used to apply glue and paint at the joints of wallpaper or drywall sheets.

Features of working with the tool

To paint the wallpaper or apply glue to the wall, either dip the roller completely into the paint, or just paint one side with paint. Next, the substance should be rolled out in a special tray. This is necessary so that the paint and varnish material is evenly distributed over the cylindrical surface of the device.

Next, you should start or a wall. It is best to use a rubber roller for this purpose. After finishing the painting process or applying wallpaper glue, the roller can be washed, or it is better to simply replace the nozzle and replace it with a clean one.

It is important to ensure that the tool is debugged as well as possible. To do this, you need to regularly clean the wallpaper roller so that it rotates evenly without jamming. It is recommended to accurately center the tool along the axis of the inner bar. If you do not follow this, then the paint will be applied in stripes. Accordingly, the quality of the painting will decrease.

Advantages

The joint roller should be comfortable to use
  1. The convenience of use. This type of roller is an indispensable tool in many situations. In particular, it is used for or under wallpaper. It is especially useful when you need to carry out work in hard-to-reach places, where it is difficult to get close to the distance of a bent limb. Such a tool has a long handle, which makes it convenient to use in these situations. Therefore, in general, it is much more convenient to work with a roller than with a brush.
  2. Safety of use. No matter how you protect your hands when working with a brush, paint can still get on them. At the same time, with careful work with the roller, contact with the skin of paints and varnishes or glue is practically excluded. This is also a clear advantage of the tool.
  3. Speed of painting and air removal. Roller work is faster than other tools. To apply glue under the wallpaper or paint, it is enough to just run a couple of times over a surface more than a meter long and more than 0.3 m wide and it will be ready.
  4. Ability to work at the joints. Unlike other tools, the joint roller can be used to process the wall during inner corners... Then, when finishing one wall, you will not touch the adjacent one.

Flaws

  1. Difficulty working with soft surfaces. A regular roller will not work for fiberglass wallpaper or other embossed materials. Although, if you choose a tool with soft nozzles, then this will allow you to control the level of pressure on the surface to be painted and paint relief materials well. True, this procedure requires gentle handling of the instrument and a certain professionalism. Therefore, if you do not feel confident, then it is better to take a rag or a softer tool to paint the wallpaper with high quality.
  2. High paint consumption. The roller is considered to result in a waste a large number glue or paint. Indeed, control the flow paints and varnishes when working with a roller is not easy. This is especially true for people who have little experience in painting wallpaper. Therefore, if you do not have too much paint, then it is better to take a brush.

Strengthening the joint between drywall sheets

Using a specialized roller, you can strengthen the joint between drywall sheets. How to do this is up to you. Here is the most effective and simple technique... Initially, the area should be primed. Further on this area is applied reinforced mesh or paper tape. In this case, you should not wait for the complete drying of the primer. A tapered roller should be used to press them down along their entire length.

The tapered roller may become irreplaceable assistant for builder

If you take an ordinary tool for this purpose, the tape will stick to it and go away. In addition, to prevent this from happening, you can wait until the primer dries. Of course, it is possible to work manually, however using a specialized roller.

Any repair requires careful preliminary preparation of all materials and tools necessary for work. You must be prepared for any surprises and accidents in order to achieve the highest quality result. In this article, we will focus specifically on those things that are needed to glue the wallpaper.

We prepare everything you need

Let's start, perhaps, with the preparation of the instruments, although the sequence does not play a fundamental role here.

Tools

What do you need to paste the wallpaper?

  • A spatula 35 cm wide. Facilitates the process of cutting blades and trimming protruding sections.

Tip: for thin or delicate decorative coatings, as well as for application liquid wallpaper it is recommended to use. He will help keep them intact.

  • Stationery knife. Its snapping blade is sharp enough to easily cut any quality wallpaper, and it is lightweight and comfortable.

Tip: be sure to get additional blades, as they quickly become dull and unusable.

  • Velor roller 25 cm wide. The wall surface is also required for application.

  • "Keg" for wallpaper joints. It is a small barrel-shaped plastic roller, designed for the highest quality gluing of seams by pressing them down.

  • Special bowl with ribbed surface for holding the glue.

  • A bucket for mixing the adhesive solution.

  • Roulette. She will carry out all the necessary measurements.

  • Brush. Useful for processing hard-to-reach places.

  • Clean rags. An incredibly important thing for wallpapering, despite its apparent insignificance. It is with a rag that you will level the canvases on the wall, squeezing out the air under them, and you can also remove the glue that accidentally got on the decorative side with it.

  • Ladder. The average ceiling height is two and a half meters, so better wallpaper glue while standing on a secure ladder, and not bouncing.

  • Pencil. Required for striping.

Most of the above tools are inexpensive and useful, so try to get a complete set of accessories.

Wallpaper

What do you need to know when choosing a wallpaper?

  1. Moisture resistance... This is a very important operational parameter, which is responsible for how damp the room being renovated can be, and whether it will be possible to carry out wet cleaning of the decorative surface in the future.

Defined using special characters:

  • One wave - it is allowed to use a damp cloth during cleaning.
  • Two waves - possibly more thorough washing followed by wiping dry.
  • Three waves - high-quality dirt removal using household chemicals.
  • Wave and brush - use of a brush or a washing vacuum cleaner is allowed.

  1. Ecological cleanliness... If small children or allergy sufferers live in your house, then it is better to play it safe in this matter.
  2. Lightfastness... Products sensitive to UV light should not be used in well-exposed areas of sunlight, as they will fade very quickly. So choose this indicator correctly, which will also help you with a special marking in the form of a circle or semicircle with rays, symbolizing the sun.

  1. Method of gluing... Here it is important to find out whether the wallpaper is self-adhesive, and if not, then you need to apply the glue to the canvases or only to the wall. This data will affect the amount of glue required and the complexity of DIY finishing. The corresponding symbols are attached:

  1. Roll dimensions... With their help, we will further analyze how to find out how many rolls of wallpaper you need to glue your room.

So, we turn to the answer to the question of how to determine how much wallpaper is needed. To do this, first of all, you need the dimensions of the room and the roll. Classic pieces are 53 centimeters wide and 10 meters long. The room you, armed with a tape measure, must measure yourself, namely the length and height of the walls.

For example, let's take a wall three by three meters, and calculate how many wallpapers are needed for 9 square meters. To do this, we find the area of the roll: 10 × 0.53 = 5.3 square meters... And then divide the wall area by the resulting number: 9 / 5.3 = 1.7 rolls.

In this way, you calculate all the walls. If you have any difficulties, you can always use one of the many online calculators.

Glue

How much wallpaper glue do you need and which one should you choose?

The following will help you here:

  • Instructions on the wallpaper itself. For each specific model, the recommended adhesive composition is always indicated.
  • Annotation on the package with glue, containing information on the approximate consumption of the finished solution.

Conclusion

Before starting the wallpapering process, you must carefully prepare. This requires acquiring all the necessary tools and materials. The list is quite impressive, and therefore it is advisable to have it on hand when going to the store ().

Hello!
Tell me, what is the best way to apply glue under the wallpaper? I tried it with a brush (maklovitsa). I didn't like it - the glue flies in all directions. Although, perhaps, I am doing something wrong, I’m in a hurry, or the brush is not the right one. Something suggests that the roller should be better (on the instructions for the wallpaper, they again smear it with a roller). Who will say what about this?
Thank you.

And a couple more questions - what should be the glue roller: foam, velor, fur? If with pile, then what is the height?

I tried to apply Kelid glue (thick) with a foam roller - I didn't like it. The glue layer turns out to be very thin, and dries instantly, and the paper layer vinyl wallpaper should be saturated with glue. Now I apply it with a brush.

Glue on the wall (non-woven wallpaper) was applied with a large brush. The pile is long and soft. The size of the brush is about 20x10 cm. Remains from Soviet times, her parents smeared it paper wallpaper.
With a certain skill, the glue does not fly anywhere at all.

And I also tried Vestan with a roller (long artificial pile). Nothing happened, only the roller ruined it.

And what does it mean to “apply UNDER the wallpaper”? Probably you mean non-woven wallpaper and glue on the wall? I did everything with ordinary rollers with medium pile. There have never been any problems. Moreover, I have this roller “a jack of all trades roller” - both for the primer and for the glue. What to invent? I generally apply vinyl with a brush for clothes (the handle is on top of it). No, of course you can buy all the brushes and rollers on the market for different tasks, but where to put them then?
In general, do not be afraid to stay. This does not work, take that. Not that, so this ... I really do not want this FORUM to turn into a certain sequence of questions after a while, such as "What stick should I interfere with a can of paint? ..." (No offense;))

It makes absolutely no difference how to apply glue, the main thing is that the layer is even, without gaps.

It is more convenient for me to use a roller on the wall, on the canvas - with a brush. And so, who is used to what.

For me, a brush is better - it allows you to vary the layer of applied glue over a wider range, but it requires some skill, so as not to leave dry spots and glue clots. Well, so as not to fly to the sides, of course!

How to glue non-woven wallpaper: master class

And the roller is more convenient because the layer is uniform and applied "more clearly".

With a brush or a medium-bristled fur roller.
The main thing is a thorough application along the edges.

Eight years ago, they glued the wallpaper in the apartment on their own, naturally, all the necessary tools remained. This year we decided to change the wallpaper to refresh the interior. We didn’t regret finances, we bought expensive wallpaper. The store said that such wallpapers are called heavy. We started to glue. The fact that the canvas is wide, I got used to nothing quickly. Only now it turned out to be problematic to expel the air from under the canvas with a roller.

How to choose a roller for applying glue to the wall?

A friend said that now no one uses a roller, but there are special plastic floats. Can anyone tell me if such things are really better?

There is no single opinion on this matter ...

Personally, I like the foam rollers (sponges) with large air slots the most.

The advantages that I personally found for myself:

  1. It is very good to blot them with glue and it is also good to drain off excess glue, it is enough to carry them around the bath a couple of times ...
  2. If you get used to and drain off excess glue, then when you transfer the roller to the place where the glue is smeared, not a drop will fall from it ...
  3. Even when you swipe off excess glue, with a slight pressure, enough of it is released to be applied to the wallpaper, and I note that you do not need to apply extra effort for this ...
  4. The entire surface of the wallpaper is smeared evenly ...
  5. Even if you apply excess glue to the wallpaper, then rolling a roller over the bath can remove the excess due to the good absorbency of the sponge ...
  6. After work, it washes quickly and practically in a short time you can wash off all the glue ...

I use the width of the roller 20 centimeters, the most optimal size ...

If you have a meter-long wallpaper and a flat wall, then with a high pile or low of particular importance does not have. When gluing, the brother of the roller is a wallpaper spatula (it may be from a selikon, but the usual Stayer (from STAYER) saved me too - its edge is soft enough. meter wallpaper- they do not need to be soaked - we just grease the wall - and blurt out the sliced pieces). If you have the usual "half-meter" - then a roller with a fine nap will do, but not only will you have to smear the wall, but also the wallpaper.

I personally use a wide brush to apply glue to the wallpaper, I like to use brushes more than a roller. In time, I think the same. This is the brush I use:

As for the roller, you can choose any roller, this is not painting, but the application of glue.

Necessary tools for wallpapering

Another thing is that a fur roller will cost more than a foam roller. Therefore, it is better to buy from foam rubber to save money. And it is also more convenient to buy a roller bath right away, so the glue will be consumed sparingly and save time, this is how the roller tray looks like:

I applied the glue with two rollers - a fur roller and a foam roller - I won't say that some of them are better or worse (in work), but after gluing the wallpaper, it became clear that it was better to use a foam roller - its price is low, you can do without regrets to throw away, but fur rollers are expensive and it turned out to be very difficult to wash it from the glue.

So it is wiser to take a foam roller (and in general it is convenient to apply glue an ordinary rag, only you need to constantly wipe your hands).

What tools are needed for wallpapering.

wallpaper tool

wallpapering

After carrying out the preparatory work (plaster on the lighthouses, priming, putty on the walls) it is time to glue the wallpaper.

Before starting repairing an apartment, you need to determine in advance what is needed for wallpapering and prepare all the necessary tools and materials for the work, in order to get high-quality and beautifully pasted wallpaper on the walls as a result.

Tool for pasting wallpaper.

Here complete list tools necessary for wallpapering on one's own:

1 Stationery knife for cutting the blade with replaceable steel blades. The blades must be changed periodically, as the blades must be very sharp during the trimming process, otherwise there will be torn and uneven edges.

For a single occasion, you can buy an inexpensive knife.

2.Metal spatula 25-35 cm wide.

Which roller to choose for applying glue to wallpaper?

Serves for wallpaper trimming. Putting the spatula firmly to the cut, use a knife to remove excess pieces of wallpaper. A metal ruler of the appropriate length can be used instead.

3. Plastic spatula for smoothing the surface of the canvas. It is used only for dense wear-resistant wallpapers. For paper, you need a soft wallpaper brush.

4. Roller for smoothing joints. It is used for rolling the joint in order to press the edges of the canvases more tightly. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the pattern of the canvas can be pressed into the embossed wallpaper.

5. Roller painting fur for uniform application of glue on the walls.

6. Tray for rolling out wallpaper glue. The width of the tub must be larger than the roller.

7.Brush for painting works... In places where it is difficult to apply glue with a roller, use a brush.

8.Plastic construction bucket for mixing the glue. Any suitable container can be used.

9. Construction plumb. With the help of it, sticking the stripes strictly vertically will not be difficult. You can, of course, use a laser level, but for one-time work this is an expensive pleasure.

10. Rubbing lint to remove stray drops of glue.

11. Tape measure for measuring the length of the blade. Having measured the height of the wall, do not forget to leave 5-7 cm in reserve.

12.Painting pencil for marking the vertical and the sequence of pasting the wallpaper in accordance with the picture. In no case can you use an ordinary simple pencil, since if the wallpaper is thin, the line from the pencil will shine through.

This small list necessary tools for gluing non-woven, vinyl, paper wallpapers. If such a kit is available, you can perform Finishing work do it yourself. The main thing is to carry out all the work carefully and slowly, so that in the future there are no such problems as loose seams, stains and streaks, swelling, peeling and mold.

This is done in this way: a spatula is tightly applied to the place where you need to cut off the excess, then the remnants of the wallpaper are cut off with a paint knife. In general, the spatula is intended for filling the surface with various mixtures, but it is also excellent for clearing the wall of dried bumps formed during.
Painting knife with breakaway blades. He is plastic construction with a metal break-off blade. Sharp enough to easily handle any kind of wallpaper. Painter's knife comes in different qualities and therefore at different prices. Higher quality is used by professionals, but for you it will be enough to purchase the simplest and not expensive one. However, it is worth taking care of buying spare blades, as they become dull very quickly and become unusable.
Roller for wallpaper joints, designed for rolling wallpaper joints. It is also called "keg". It is a plastic tapered roller with a handle. It should be 1 meter longer than the height of the wall. It is a plumb line of a metal weight, with an approximate weight of 50 grams, tied with a nylon cord or strong thread. At home, you can build something like this yourself.
Painting brush, designed for applying wallpaper glue in hard-to-reach places where the use of a paint roller is not fruitful, such as corners, joints between wall and floor, wall and ceiling. This brush is also called the "Fleitz brush" and is the most popular both in everyday life and in professional repair and interior decoration. It is a wooden handle with a metal frame that holds the bristles. The optimal brush width is 4-6 cm.
Construction tape, is designed to measure the required length of the wallpaper, depending on the height of the wall or the length of the ceiling. Keep in mind that you need to add about 5 cm to the resulting value, this will be a stock of wallpaper, which you will then level with a spatula and a construction knife. It will be useful to you only once, when you measure out the first template sheet of wallpaper, according to which, in principle, all the rest will be measured and cut off.
A soft rag will be needed to remove excess glue from the wallpaper and surface and wipe the seams. It can also be used to smooth down the pasted wallpaper to remove any remaining air between the canvas and the wall. Whether or not to wet the rag depends on the type of wallpaper you decide to glue.
Scissors, preferably with long blades for more convenient and quick cutting of wallpaper. And also the scissors should be sharp and sharpened enough so as not to ruin the wallpaper. Many do not use scissors, doing an excellent job with the task thanks to a spatula and a construction knife, but for a beginner, this method may seem a little difficult to start with.
Pressing spatula, is intended for pressing and ironing the wallpaper immediately after the next sheet has been glued to remove excess glue and air bubbles. Convenient to use in hard-to-reach places. It is a plastic special tool with a length of 280 mm.
A stepladder is needed in order to calmly reach the ceiling and glue the wallpaper with great comfort. There are aluminum, wooden stepladders, construction stools. Such an item in everyday life is often necessary for other needs, but you can get by and enough sturdy table or a chair. It's up to you to decide.
Painting pencil, is needed in order to mark the direction of the canvases and their sequence in accordance with the drawing. It happens that, at first glance, the direction of the canvas itself does not matter for the pattern on the wallpaper when pasting, but be careful, incorrect pasting will be noticeable in daylight. At home, you can replace it with an ordinary simple pencil.

Any designer (and even a customer) will confirm that the correct gluing of wallpaper is 50 percent of all the work on creating your original interior... The main thing is to correctly select all materials with tools, to find suitable wallpaper and prepare the walls.

And we will help you with this!

A complete list of tools and tools for self-gluing wallpaper

Of course, the set of tools will depend on the state of the room, but, in general, it remains standard.

So, you will need:

  • Work gloves, headwear and clothing , which is not a pity.
  • Wallpaper and glue.
  • Film to keep furniture safe (if there is one in the room). And for the floor (if the flooring could be damaged). If there is no film, cover the floors with magazine sheets or white paper (newspapers stain the wallpaper!). This will save you cleaning time later.
  • Primer (the amount depends on the footage of the room).
  • Joiner's pencil. Useful for marking canvases and other purposes.
  • Metal ruler. It is useful for trimming wallpaper and for drawing straight lines.
  • Stationery knife (you cannot do without it when cutting wallpaper) and scissors (they are usually used to cut wallpaper for sockets, etc.).
  • Gon (approx. - for plotting perpendiculars / angles) and construction tape for measuring planes.
  • Plumb line and level. They are needed for gluing wallpaper in an exceptionally correct vertical / position.
  • Construction trough (size - by volume of glue). It is convenient to dip a roller or wallpaper brush into it.
  • Bucket for glue (basin). You can also use it to dilute the glue, but you can dip only a brush into the bucket. Such a container will not work for a roller.
  • Construction mixer. It will be needed for high-quality stirring of glue, primer or putty. However, you can get by with an ordinary wooden stick.
  • Painter's spatula. With its help, the wallpaper is trimmed at the joints, applying the edge of the tool to the joint and using a clerical knife.
  • Wallpaper brush. It is needed to smooth the wallpaper after pasting it. Choose a hard and short pile.
  • Wallpaper spatula. This plastic tool perfectly disperses bubbles and smoothes the wallpaper. Note: use it only for vinyl and paper wallpapers, and for natural or textile wallpapers - only a roller.
  • Mini roller for wallpaper joints. Extremely handy tool for smoothing joints and optimal adhesion of fabrics along the seam.
  • Paint roller. It is needed for even and quick application of glue to the canvas (or to the wall). True, you have to work on the edges of the canvas - it is much more convenient to coat them with a wide brush.
  • Roll for corners. Choose either yellow (soft) or black (harder). Due to the shape of the cut cone, it allows high-quality ironing of the corners of the glued panel.
  • Wide flat and large round brush. With their help, the wallpaper is smeared, if it did not work out with the roller. 1st - for the edges, 2nd - for the main part of the canvas.
  • Painting bath. This plastic container has a container for glue and a ribbed surface for removing its excess (a roller is rolled over it). Extremely handy container for glue and paint.
  • Aluminum builder / rule (emphasis is on the "I"). It will come in handy for plastering works... And to him - construction beacons.
  • Sandpaper.
  • Spray.
  • Respirator (we take it from the pharmacy). This is your escape from dust when sanding walls.

Preparing walls for wallpapering - cleaning and priming

The most important thing in gluing (besides itself) is the preparation of the walls. Without it, even embossed wallpaper will not hide defects, and after a year or two, the work will have to be redone.

  1. We remove the old wallpaper. Moreover, we shoot completely and to the last piece. Tip: softened wallpaper comes off better. We moisten paper ones with soapy water with a little wallpaper glue, thick wallpaper - also, but after making cuts so that the solution penetrates inside. After getting wet, we can easily remove them with a metal / spatula. Repeat if necessary. Is there oil paint on the walls? Or even enamel?
  2. We clean the entire surface with a large "sandpaper". If you need it quickly and efficiently, we use a drill with a special attachment. As for the "water emulsion" - a soap solution and a spatula are enough for it.
  3. We evaluate the walls under the wallpaper. If the plaster is crumbling and there are cracks, then we beat off the weak areas and fill up all problem areas with fresh plaster. Is the damage significant?
  4. Removing old plaster and redo everything cleanly and locally.
  5. Aligning the walls. First - the analysis of the geometry of the room using a "level" (better than a laser).
  6. After - exhibiting construction "beacons" for future work. Next, along the lighthouses, apply plaster with a wide spatula (consistency - thick sour cream) and level it with the "right" on the wall.
  7. We putty the walls. Dried plaster is rough, therefore we cover the entire surface with a putty - a thin layer and a wide spatula.
  8. We skin (grind) the walls. Dusty work (we put on a respirator!), Which will give us perfectly smooth walls for gluing. We use fine "sandpaper" fixed on wooden block(for comfort).
  9. We prime the walls. Final stage. A primer is needed for good adhesion of the wallpaper to the walls, to protect the walls from mold and insects, and to save glue. We choose a primer according to the type of surface from options suitable for living quarters: acrylic (for all surfaces), alkyd (for wood / surfaces and under non-woven wallpaper, as well as for metallic / surfaces).
Note: drywall must be primed several times! Otherwise, then you will remove the wallpaper along with the plaster.

The procedure for preparing and gluing wallpaper - what should be foreseen at the stages?

For most wallpapers, the gluing technology is the same. Therefore, we study the instructions using the example of paper wallpaper and then supplement it with the features of gluing other materials.

We glue paper wallpaper - step-by-step instructions

  • Preparation of walls (read above, it is the same for any type of wallpaper) and glue.
  • Cutting of canvases. We measure the height, mark the lines with a pencil and cut (with a wallpaper knife!), In accordance with it, stripes, leaving 10-20 cm of stock. On top of the 1st strip we apply, equalize and cut the 2nd.
  • If the wallpaper is with a pattern, do not forget about the joining of the pattern. And immediately we number the wallpaper from the inside out, so as not to get confused later.
  • When all the wallpaper is cut, we coat part of the wall under the first pair of canvases with glue(for grip).
  • Next, we coat the wallpaper ourselves. paying particular attention to the edges.
  • We glue the wallpaper FROM windows to overlapping doors(one canvas goes 1-2 cm onto another) so that the joints are invisible.
  • If there are problems in the corners we make neat cuts in the wallpaper for a better fit. And we glue the next canvas right from the corner.
  • After gluing the canvas, gently iron it from top to bottom(and edges!) with a rubber roller, expelling bubbles (we pierce large bubbles with a needle) and excess glue outward. Remove excess glue immediately. From above we pass the canvas with a dry cloth, also from top to bottom.
  • Cut off the excess length of the canvases at the bottom and glue a horizontal strip along the entire bottom line, which strengthens the adhesion of the wallpaper to the wall. Of course, this strip should not stick out over the baseboard.
  • We are waiting for the wallpaper to dry completely for 1-2 days. Remember - no drafts! We close the windows even before gluing and do not open them until the wallpaper is 100% dry.

Vinyl wallpaper - gluing features

  1. We smear the wall with glue (not wallpaper!) And apply the 1st canvas along the previously drawn vertical line. We apply the next canvas to the 1st end-to-end, no overlap .
  2. Smooth the canvas with a rubber roller(not with a spatula, it spoils the surface of the wallpaper), expelling bubbles - from the center to the sides. We carefully roll all the seams. If necessary, we smear the glue with a brush on dry edges, on the joint line.

We remind you: if the given wallpaper is on a non-woven basis, then the wallpaper is not coated with glue. If the base is paper, then the glue is applied both to the walls and to the wallpaper.

Non-woven wallpaper - gluing features

  1. The cut canvases should lie down (in the cut form) for about a day.
  2. We do not coat the wallpaper with glue - only the walls!
  3. We glue with an overlap - by 1-2 cm.
  4. We are waiting for the drying of the wallpaper 12-36 hours.

Textile wallpaper - gluing features

  1. We glue only with the help of professionals! Otherwise, you run the risk of letting money down the drain.
  2. Apply glue to the wall (if the base is paper), and then onto the canvases and wait 5-10 minutes for it to be absorbed into the material. With a non-woven base, we apply glue exclusively to the walls. Then we start the pasting process. The amount of glue is in moderation! Excess and lack of glue are fraught with alteration of the entire interior.
  3. Do not bend the wallpaper categorically- kinks are not straightened.
  4. Do not stain with glue or wet the front side, otherwise there will be traces.
  5. We disperse bubbles only with a roller and only from top to bottom.
  6. Drying time is about 3 days at room temperature.

Glass fiber - gluing features

  1. Pre-treatment with a primer is required.
  2. We glue both canvases and walls with glue.
  3. Next, cover the already glued wallpaper with a thick layer of glue.
  4. After the wallpaper is completely dry (at least 2 days later), you can paint it. First, the 1st layer, after 12 hours - the second.

Cork wallpaper - gluing features

  1. We glue without overlap - only end-to-end.
  2. For sheet wallpaper, be sure to do the markup - the sheets should be arranged only in a checkerboard pattern.
  3. Apply the glue to even and clean walls.
  4. We use masking tape at the joints.

Liquid wallpaper - application features

Everything is much easier with this wallpaper:

  1. If the walls are already ready, we repaint them in a uniform color.(water emulsion). It is desirable with white paints. Better in 2 coats to avoid the appearance of yellow spots. And then - 2 layers of waterproofing primer.
  2. Plasterboard walls first we putty (with the addition of PVA, 3 to 1), then we paint with a water emulsion 2 times.
  3. We process wood walls oil paint or we impregnate with a special primer in 2-3 layers, after which we paint with a water-based emulsion.
  4. All metal parts we cover with enamel paint to avoid rust bleeding in the future.
  5. Now we prepare the mixture using a mixer in a clean container. Strictly according to the instructions on the package and until the consistency of very thick sour cream. The amount of the mixture should be sufficient for the entire area. The swelling time is about 20 minutes.
  6. We apply the mixture to the walls: take an egg-sized amount on a spatula and gently level it with a spatula on the wall. Layer thickness - 1-3 mm. You can use a hard roller or even glass bottle... Apply the mixture to the ceiling through a spray bottle.
  7. Roll out the rest of the mixture on polyethylene, dry for 3 days and pack for storage. If necessary, you just need to dilute with water.
  8. Wallpaper drying time- about 3 days.

If you are doing renovations, then it is very important.

We will be very pleased if you share your experience of choosing, preparing for gluing and wallpapering!
