The pie, prepared according to a simple recipe, measures 30x35 cm and weighs 3 kg. That's more than enough to fill you up big family or arrange a real feast for the guests.

Ingredients

To prepare the recipe for the presented pie, we will need the following ingredients:

  • 1.5 tsp. dry yeast;
  • 260 g of warm tap or boiled water;
  • 1 tsp. table salt;
  • 1 tbsp. l. Sahara;
  • 500 g flour;
  • 2 tbsp. l. sunflower oil;
  • 1 egg for coating the dough before baking.

To prepare the filling according to the recipe, use:

  • 500 g lightly salted fish;
  • 1.5 kg of potatoes;
  • 300 g onions;
  • 50 g sunflower oil;
  • herbs and spices to taste.

You can use any fish according to the recipe, but catfish or hake fillet, salmon bellies, and trout are ideal. Some housewives even use canned food (2-3 cans) for cooking delicious filling. Sunflower oil can be replaced with butter.

Kneading the dough

1. First, pour warm water into a deep container, where you dissolve the sugar and yeast. Leave to stand for about 3 minutes.

2. While the mixture is steeping, sift the flour through a fine sieve, add salt and stir well. Pour the flour, yeast and sugar into the water a little at a time, stirring constantly until the dough comes together.

3. Place it on the table, add butter and continue kneading vigorously for 15 minutes until the mass becomes homogeneous. Please note that the better you knead the dough according to the recipe, the tastier the baked goods will be.

4. Now remove the dough into a small enamel (or metal) pan with a lid, placing it in a bowl with warm water and covering it with a towel on top. Leave the dough to rise for 60 minutes. During this time it should increase in size by 3 times.

Preparing the filling

While the dough is resting, start preparing the filling.

1. Peel the potatoes, remove the eyes, rinse well and cut them into cubes. If desired, you can add salt, but if you use lightly salted fish during the cooking process, this is not necessary.

2. Now remove the bones from the fish (if you don’t want to do this, use hake fillet - it’s boneless), cut the meat into pieces and add a little pepper.

3. Peel and cut the onion into half rings, then place it on the filling. Many housewives make frying from it, frying it in butter with herbs and adding spices. Then they simply add it to the filling prepared according to the recipe.

4. When the dough has finished resting for 60 minutes, knead it lightly to release it. carbon dioxide. Divide into 2 parts, ⅔ of which will go to the base, and ⅓ to the top cake.

Forming the cake and baking

4. Connect the top and bottom edges of the future pie.

To ensure that the pie does not tear in the oven and that the filling is well baked, make 4 cuts along the edges and 1 cut in the middle. You can make decorations from the remaining pieces of dough.

5. Next, cover the fish pie with cling film and leave for 15 minutes. During this time you will preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Before placing the pie in a preheated oven, do not forget to coat it with an egg beaten with 1 tbsp. l. cool water using a regular paint brush.

6. Place the baking sheet with the pie in the middle of the oven and wait for it to cook for 45-60 minutes. After the specified time has passed, check the potatoes through the cut - if they are soft, the pie can be removed from the oven after 7 minutes.

7. When the fish pie is ready, take it out and coat it completely with butter.

8. Now remove the baked goods from the paper and transfer to a wire rack. Cover the top with baking paper and two towels. Leave the dish for 30 minutes, or even better for 1-2 hours, during which the pulp will reach a consistency at which it will not crumble.

You can serve the pie with potatoes and fish as a main dish or side dish.
