Rotary table. Round table with rotating center How to assemble a turntable

A rotating table for making confectionery products should always be at hand not only for professional bakers, but also for all those who like to cook for themselves and their loved ones. The rotating surface allows you to significantly simplify the process of decorating cakes. You will no longer have to walk around the baked goods, because it will rotate freely around its axis.

What materials and tools are needed to create a table?

Rotary table IC can be bought in a store, but it is much more convenient to make this product yourself. In progress self-assembly it becomes possible to make an individual drawing, as well as select suitable materials. In addition, the price of such a product will be much cheaper than a purchased one. The item can be made using available materials and tools:

  • Wood base;
  • Bearings (2 pcs.);
  • Liquid nails or self-tapping screws;
  • Plastic or iron tube;
  • Metal circle;
  • Thin sheet of plastic.

Any materials can be used as a wooden blank. To save money, you can also use a door from an old cabinet. Each of them has certain advantages. For example, wood is more environmentally friendly and safe, and MDF is very easy to work with. Chipboard is an attractive material in terms of price.

Assembly phases

How to make a cake turntable? The process of assembling a rotating stand is not particularly difficult, but it requires some physical effort. First you need to prepare necessary materials and make a drawing. Observe a certain sequence actions:

  1. This is how you make a DIY rotating turntable for a cake. It is necessary to cut two circles from a piece of chipboard or other material. You can select the parameters as you wish. In this example it is 20 cm.
  2. In one of the circles in the center we make a recess in which the bearing will be installed. It is this part that will give rotation to the entire structure.
  3. By using liquid nails or self-tapping screws, we attach the second element, which does not have a recess, to the first. Due to the second circle, the device will firmly adhere to the surface.
  4. Next, we insert a tube into the bearing that will connect the lower and upper bases. The length of the tube can vary from 15 to 18 cm. This is the most preferred size, neither short nor long.
  5. It is better to make a stand for a confectionery product from a metal circle with a diameter of 30-40 cm. It is attached to the top of the tube using a welding machine.
  6. Plywood or chipboard is placed on a metal surface using self-tapping screws.

ATTENTION! In most cases, not all people have the opportunity to do full welding. In this case, cold welding, whose texture resembles plasticine, comes to the rescue.

The nuances of making a rotating cake table

To make the assembly process go smoothly, you need to know some nuances. For example, it is better to take a double pressed bearing. Otherwise, two bearings will be required, and one of them must fit into the other. One element can be driven into another using nails. It is also necessary to ensure that the plastic tube fits into the bearing as accurately as possible. It is important that there is a strong fixation and that it does not dangle. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to use such a device.

IMPORTANT! The resulting product can be given an attractive appearance. It must be covered with a film or plastic base. This will also extend the life of the device and make it easier to maintain.

Swivel rotating table provides convenient access to confectionery product from all sides at the same time. You can make such a stand yourself, especially since the materials for its manufacture are available in every home.

DIY rotary positioning table.

Another very useful tool was added to our workshop with the unusual structure we made this time. This rotary positioning table can be useful for a wide range of structural fabrication applications.

This table can rotate metal plate from 0 to 100 degrees with the rotation speed already adjusted. This may seem quite simple and gimmicky, but imagine having to manage a stable weld while the part is rotating at a gradual speed. I can assure you that the welding will be automatic and much more uniform. It would be equally easy if we placed the router in a stable place, rotating a piece of wood, we would immediately get a perfectly shaped cut wooden circle. Moreover, it would also be easy if we had a plasma cutter while rotating the metal plate. These are just a few of the many spreadsheet-specific utilities that use your imagination, and their functions are countless.

Step 2: Gearbox - DC Motor

It all started when a friend gave us a gearbox that can do 10 rotations in just one. Then we found the engine direct current from an old trainer and connected it to the gearbox. Therefore, the motor using a speed controller can rotate from 0-3000 rotations, so when it was connected to the gearbox, it rotated from 0-300 rotations. From the gearbox we managed to make a 65 cm axle, on which a metal plate was applied, and this is also the surface of our project. This axle is also supported by two more bearings for even greater durability. Since the already mentioned parts were connected, they were placed on a 40mm thick axis, which can rotate all parts made from 0 degrees to 100 degrees. By using a crank and a threaded shaft (screw threads start on one side of the shaft and extend to the other side), we have created a system that when the crank rotates, it rotates the entire system, resulting in a tilt that we need to work with. All this moves on a metal base, which was made from square pipes with dimensions of 50 mm x 50 mm x 2 mm. On this metal base we have also placed a mechanism that plays a role when the position is selected and it is suitable for working and tightening the bolt, the table is stabilized completely and securely.

Step 3: Design

One of the advantages of our own table design is that when it is placed in a horizontal position at an angle of 0 degrees, there are two surfaces to work on, one on the front side and the other on the back side table. Specifically, on the back side you can have a chuck and be able to fit smaller objects, and on the front side, where there is more surface to work with, you can fit larger objects.
The motor that was placed to move the table left and right uses two contactors that are activated by pressing two steppers. The steppers are made of sheet aluminum and their covers are made of sheet metal. In addition, above the steppers there is a board on which the switches are located. One of the two switches is for emergency situation if a problem occurs, and it can be pressed to disable any function in progress. While the other must activate the entire mechanism and the potentiometer located next to it, it regulates the speed of rotation of the metal surface of the work. Regarding the future use of the structure, various bases can be placed on which a variety of support tools and machines can be placed, increasing the potential use of our structure. Final, Thus, we managed to implement another team project to make it extreme with great success. This way our workshop is one step ahead by being more fulfilling.

Step 4: Video

We believe that the particular framework was worth our time and effort, not only for the satisfaction gained from creating it, but also for the great utility of the particular tool.

This video shows the manufacturing technology of a rotating table, which is equipped with a rather complex technical filling, but you can repeat it yourself.

This video tutorial from Igor Negoda’s channel is dedicated to a homemade rotary table, the details of which you can see on the screen. The author of the video carved all these details into lathe and did something on milling machine. The table will be used in a vlog to demonstrate various small devices. Many have seen such structures that are convenient for filming videos and produce a beautiful 3D effect. This device is self-sufficient, will have its own engine, its own battery and charging. That is, it will be possible to connect to a PC and charge.

Various interesting items and spare parts are sold with free delivery in this Chinese store.

Table assembly process

Rotating table

In order, as the master did it all, we will slowly collect it.
The manufacturing process of the rotating table was very long, that is, with interruptions, there were not enough parts. The biggest problem was with the gears. That is, I picked up different gears, set them up for a long time, and even thought about giving up the idea of making a rotary table with the existing gears. But now that the product is ready, we can assemble it and show you how it looks and works. This is the main part, it is made of aluminum, everything here is milled.

Let's start the assembly. Here in the middle there is space for bearings. Ball bearings will be used. I took it apart and cleaned and washed everything very well. If you press gently, everything is inserted by hand. One bearing needs to be slightly lubricated with Panasonic oil. We insert the second bearing, climbed into the shaft. It also needs to be lubricated a little. These bearings are needed so that the mini table can rotate. A thrust bearing is inserted on top. This is the denser part. And this is part. The one that will rotate has a slightly smaller diameter. Now if you put a table here, it will rotate.

Now let's try to assemble the mechanism. The brass pulley was also made on a lathe and a bearing was pressed here; it sticks out a little because the design is different but it doesn’t fit here. Either it was necessary to make a larger pulley here, which would increase the revolutions of the rotation table, or it needs to be redone. Since I did it gradually, I had to adjust and redo it all the time.

This pulley is made for belts and is attached to the hole. An additional washer is inserted here and you can tighten it. Having pre-lubricated, we attach the drive gear.

The washer is also brass and is placed in its place. To ensure the transition from belts to gears, an adapter pulley is used. With its help, rotation will be transmitted to this gear.
This table is installed at the very last moment, after the electric motor is installed. It is already assembled along with the power supply circuit. There is a switch here, you can hear the engine running.

Let's assemble the body parts. Although we will need the motor to understand exactly where the switch should be, since it is already soldered. You need to know this very precisely.

It often happens that the thrust bearing flies out and in the future we will secure it thoroughly.

Turn the table back over. A decorative ring is installed on top and pressed with screws. I cut a thread specifically for the ring.
This system is assembled, you can now turn the table over and thoroughly mount the engine and attach the electrics. The engine fits tightly and can be adjusted in height.

Electrics

The charger is glued with double tape. You must first degrease the surface, otherwise the tape simply will not stick. The charging board can be directly attached to the case. Now we attach the battery in the same way. Two strips of tape are enough for him to hold tightly and not fall off over time. It does not fall off when heated and holds well. All that remains is to fix the switch.

The electrics are assembled. Turn on the switch and the engine rotates. The engine must be adjusted in height. There is one caveat. We need to take off this ring now, because we won’t be able to insert the belt here. You need to position it well so that there are no distortions. And the second belt is put on. Also back ring. The mechanism is ready. If we turn on the lever, everything here rotates.

All that remains is to set up a table. To do this, we reinsert the bearing and the table. This is not the final option yet. Decorative tables can be swapped on top. It is screwed from below so that it does not fall out. Similar tabletops, or as they are called, interchangeable tables, will be used on top. It will be possible to make it from wood for wooden products or create some kind of contrast. Pay attention to how it is installed, as if on an air cushion, that is, it is made very tightly

The rotating table is assembled. You can turn it on, it works and rotates. The rotating table makes a little noise, so I inserted a backing pad. This is how the device turned out. Although the degree of reduction here is high - the gearbox turns out to be four-stage. But still the speed of work was too high. But in fact, the video can be slowed down in any way you like. For such purposes, a rotating table was created.

The device contains a charging module, a power bank, and a small handkerchief. It can charge 3.7 volt lithium-ion batteries. We take a powerful power bank and try to charge it. The charge started. In this case, the table can be connected. Turn it off. The little red one disappears.

Conclusion

The master plans to improve the model, since the load capacity is quite high, but the rotation speed does not suit him very much. Although you can slow down the video, I would like it to spin much more slowly. You can add a speed controller to the motor, but then the load capacity will be even less. It’s probably no secret to many that presenting your work, and even in 3D, is the key to success. The most simple solution in this case, is a rotating presentation table. You can scroll through Netske’s works on it, or you can use it in confectionery production, like assistive device when applying cream.
I need this table to display my homemade products.

And it's very easy to do.
For the design we will need:

  • - microwave motor;
  • - switch;
  • - network cable;
  • - chipboard or plywood;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - corner.
First, we cut out a cutout for the motor in the base. I decided to leave the original connector and cut out a little more.
Base dimensions 250*100 mm. Plywood 18 mm thick.

Table plate with a diameter of 230 mm.
In the center we drill a hole for the motor, so that the axis fits tightly into the table pancake.

My plywood has scuffs because it was used. At first I thought about sanding it, which I did, but then I decided to paint it black. Once everything was dry, I drilled a hole for the wires.

Further.
We mark the place for the motor. We drill a hole half as thin as the screws so that the plywood does not split. We screw on the motor.

Now let's install the switch.
As the latter, I have a TP 1-2 toggle switch. What was, is applicable. I installed it on an aluminum corner. There was already a hole in the corner, but I finished it with a needle file until it was needed.
We run the wires into the pre-made hole and connect them to the toggle switch.
We screw the corner onto self-tapping screws. Any corner can be used for your switch.

By motor. I have it at 220 volts. If there are microwave ovens that have 21 volt motors (I’ve come across these). IN in this case You need a transformer or you can power it from the microwave board. In the latter case, the structure becomes larger in size.
Although the motor speed is only about 3 revolutions per minute, I decided to screw the legs.
To ensure that the table does not crawl on the surface.
In the role of legs, rubber stoppers from the medicine.

The finished design will look decent. There was an idea to paint the pancake in White color, but the paint was only on water based and was not suitable for its intended purpose.

ATTENTION! The device is powered from a household network. Take measures to insulate the wires where they are connected to the switch.
Thank you for your attention!

The design was developed by Mastyrkin.

Sleek, compact Coffee table IR, made of glass and wood, will become an extraordinary bright detail in your interior. And its functionality will bring pleasure from use. Now, to get to any point on the table, you don’t even have to leave the sofa.

To make your own coffee table with a movable tabletop, wood and glass were used, and skateboard rollers were used as a rotating system.

If you are not happy with the prospect of your feet being visible through the glass surface, then you can use colored glass or chipboard.

10mm thick glass was used to make the tabletop. Cutting and edge processing were carried out at a specialized company.

Attention!!! TO ordinary glass must be handled with care due to its fragility and, if broken, it will form dangerous shards. Therefore, it is necessary to use tempered glass or chipboard.

As an option, you can purchase a ready-made round glass tabletop d-1000mm. at companies selling glass furniture.

Frame coffee table made of natural wood, 40 mm thick. and width 120 mm. The height of the leg is 350 mm. Distance from leg to center 450 mm.

We mark the vertical planks at an angle of 120 degrees and cut them with a circular saw. Since the tabletop is transparent, it is very important that all cuts are clear and even, otherwise all imperfections will be visible.

All connections of the wooden frame to each other are made using furniture dowels and wood glue.

To correctly assemble the horizontal part, you must first apply markings to one of the strips and drill a hole perpendicular to the cut.

A sharp object is inserted into the hole of the first strip, for example a nail wrapped in electrical tape. After which the planks are pressed against each other. The mark from the nail will be the place to drill a hole for the dowel in the second plank.

Checking for symmetry.

All planks are carefully processed grinder, with fine grain.

Open with several layers of varnish using a soft sponge. Before each opening of the varnish, it is necessary to additionally sand the workpieces, since previous layers of varnish tend to raise the pile.

After the varnish has completely dried, we begin assembly. Be sure to coat all joints with glue, then tie them together with a tourniquet and leave to dry for a day.

On the reverse side, the horizontal part of the coffee table, we attach a metal plate for reliability.

After the frame is ready, we proceed to installing the skate rollers. The rollers were purchased separately at a sports store as spare parts, i.e. there is no need to purchase a whole skateboard and destroy it.

It is very important that all rollers are installed at the same distance from the edge of the table (100 mm). And they are fixed strictly parallel to their slats. Otherwise, when you turn the tabletop, it will constantly move to the side.

The do-it-yourself rotating coffee table is ready, all that remains is to cover it with the tabletop and use it.

If the tabletop still does not rotate smoothly, then I suggest drilling a hole in the center and inserting a metal pin with a large round head for centering to avoid accidents.
