In addition, in conditions of limited living space, it is always better to give preference to mobile and transformable pieces of furniture over stationary ones. For example, it is worth considering that a table on wheels will be more convenient than a regular stationary tea table, because it is much easier to move it to a corner if it is in the way, or transport it to a room that currently does not have enough horizontal planes.

Many people probably know that feeling when you wake up early on a sunny morning and a freshly prepared breakfast is waiting for you in front of your bed. A cup of hot tea will invigorate you and make your morning truly enjoyable. Typically, such breakfasts in bed are served on serving tables. We will devote today's article to an overview of the types of serving tables and how to assemble a serving table on wheels with your own hands. Let us immediately note that in order to complete the project presented below, you do not need to be a carpentry master - any man can easily cope with this.

Serving tables differ from coffee tables primarily in that they usually have wheels that allow you to conveniently move them around the room. Such tables are most often used in restaurants and hotels, when it is necessary to deliver several ordered dishes to the client’s room and to his table. Coping with this task without a serving table is very difficult.

Based on the functions assigned to serving tables on wheels, the design of such tables usually includes two shelves so that not only several dishes can fit on the table, but also drinks, serving sets and more.

Serving table with bottle holder

Today you can find a huge number of different designs of serving tables, for example, with three shelves, with a stand for bottles, folding and many others.

Folding serving table on wheels with three shelves

Of course, a serving table can also come in handy at home, so in this article we suggest you make it yourself at home. We will end up with such a bright, modest table.

The project assumes that the table has only two countertops - usually this is enough to carry breakfast for two. A handle will be attached to one of the sides, by which the table will be transported.

A drawing of a wooden serving table on wheels is shown in the figure below.

Before you start assembling the serving table with your own hands, you need to prepare the following tools:

  • A circular saw;
  • Drill and drill set;
  • Screwdriver and screws;

  • Pneumatic hammer;
  • Sander;
  • Tassels;
  • Tape measure, pencil;
  • Safety glasses, respirator, gloves.

To assemble the table in hardware store You should also purchase the following materials:

  • Board 50 mm × 100 mm – for the frame;
  • Board 25 mm × 100 mm – for countertops;
  • Rail 25 mm × 50 mm – for edging tabletops;
  • Dye.

The first stage in making a serving table on wheels with your own hands is assembling the frame. The serving table consists of an upper and lower base, connected to each other by vertical posts.

First, let's prepare the foundations. To do this, use a circular saw to cut 4 pieces 86 cm long and 4 pieces 32 cm long.

Preparing blanks for the table frame

We join the boards according to the diagram shown in the figure below.

Diagram of the upper and lower bases of the table

For fastening we use screws, screw two screws into each joint.

Preparing holes for interlocking workpieces

We fasten the workpieces with screws

Now that the bases of the future countertops are ready, we connect them with vertical posts, as shown in the figure below. The legs, whose height is 78 cm, are attached from the outside of the prepared bases.

For convenience, while fastening the frame with screws, you can secure it with clamps.

Assembling the table frame

The second step in assembling a serving table with your own hands is preparing the upper and lower tabletops. In total, we will need 20 planks 10 cm wide, 18 of which should be 42 cm long and 2 planks 32 cm long. Thus, it turns out that the bases will be recessed 5 cm relative to the table tops along the long side of the table.

Assembling table tops for a table on wheels

To level the tabletop planks as evenly as possible, using clamps, temporarily secure a board of the same thickness between the table legs.

Aligning tabletop planks

Attach the first 10 pieces to the top base using finishing nails or screws.

Fastening the tabletop with finishing nails

Similarly, we fix 8 pieces in the middle of the second base and fasten two shorter boards on the sides.

Assembling the lower table top

The final step in preparing the countertops is to attach the edging along the long sides of the countertops. The length of the slats should be 93 cm.

Decorative framing of tabletops

We also do fastening with finishing nails.

We fill all the holes and recesses that appeared when assembling the serving table.

The table is now ready for sanding.

After sanding all parts of the table, you can begin painting.

The choice of color for your DIY serving table is yours. According to our project, the table should acquire a rich red color.

Painting a serving table

One of the main functional parts of the table is the wheels. Without it, the table will not become truly serving and will not be as convenient to use. We mount the wheels using screws.

Attaching the wheels to the frame

Today, in specialized stores you can find a huge assortment of different swivel wheels for furniture, differing in design, diameter, material, fastening design, as well as the presence of a brake. For ease of use, it is recommended to choose wheels metal structure with a diameter of at least 80 mm.

So, we got this spectacular wooden serving table, no worse than those sold in stores, and assembling it with your own hands, as you have already seen, was quite simple.

As you have already noticed, our project does not provide for the installation of separate holders for bottles or other additional fasteners. However, this is not difficult to think through and do yourself. Today, in specialized stores you can buy a huge variety of fasteners.

We present to your attention several interesting designs serving tables on wheels.

Round serving table

Transformable serving table on wheels

I always wanted to make or buy a wooden serving table:

Firstly, it is much more stable than plastic ones.

Secondly, wood is much more noble than glass, plastic or other synthetic materials. Plus it's very good here. design solution. On the one hand, the table seems quite narrow, and on the other, quite roomy (after all, it does not provide for gatherings of 20 people).

The only thing I would be very careful about is the paint. It’s one thing for the table to be in the hallway or hallway, and there will be phones, magazines, etc. on top, but it’s completely different if there’s food, groceries, etc. on it. It is important to not allow the chemicals found in many paints to remain or come into contact with food. This will definitely be wrong.

The drawing of the wheel when you click on it is very dark, almost invisible.

This is because it is in vector format, PNG. Save it to your computer and everything will be fine. If it doesn’t work, write me, I’ll post all the drawings separately for download.

I already guessed and downloaded it for myself.

Hello, I repeated your table, even twice. I’ll give one to myself and one to give to my mother. Thanks for the sizes and printouts. The first one was made like yours, in size, and the second one was made to suit you. I shortened it by 15 cm, bent the handle holder upward, and now my wife rolls it without bending over. Special thanks for the wheels, they are beautiful. For myself, I did not mill grooves into them, I left them solid. All the best.

Thank you very much for your feedback. It's always nice to know that your work was not in vain, but was useful to someone.

Can I have all sizes?

Isn't that all there? Which ones are needed?

Hello, Alexander. If I understand correctly, the thickness of the shield is 18 mm. With a wheel it is more difficult, I print out the diameter and it turns out not 250 but 290, in A4 parameters. I convert from A4 to 20*25 and it turns out to be almost 250. After scanning I get a DSLR when printing 240. Tell me what I’m doing wrong, thanks in advance.

it all depends on what program you are printing through. And secondly, this site distorts the images. Write your email and I will send you the original.

Sent, please check. You definitely can’t print with such a program; it adjusts it to its own standards. I print using Photoshop, it gives 100% original.

Thank you very much Alexander, the same thing happens to a file with a PNG extension, but please tell me what program is best to open a file with a Cdr extension.

This is for coreldians. source, just in case. Now I’ll give you a different format, try it. finish the edges with a compass

Alexander, thank you very much. I installed CorelDRAW, everything went fine and the DSLR. All the best.

Glad it worked out for you.

Alexander, good afternoon!

I would really like to repeat your table. When printing images from a website or from Photoshop, the image sizes are scaled, so you don’t get the correct ones.

Product assembly process

  1. On the cut of the central partition of the table (along the sides with a width of 55 cm) and in the center of the tabletop and base, using a drill, drill holes for the tongues (use a stopper to avoid drilling through the workpieces). The gap between the tongues is no more than 10 cm.
  2. At a height of 35 cm and 47 cm on different sides of the central partition of the table, also make holes for fixing 2 rounded shelves (holes for tongues should also be prepared in their smooth surface).
  3. Install the tongues and connect the entire structure into one whole, carefully look to see if all the parts are connected smoothly.
  4. Attach vertically rectangular blanks (the height of which is 35, 47 and 23 cm), mark the areas for their fixation and make holes for tongues on their cuts in the tabletop and at the base of the future product (the entire product should be disassembled). In the rounded shelves, drill holes through to secure the top and bottom pieces, placed directly above each other, using a tongue and groove.

Do not coat the tongues with glue yet, since it is quite difficult to make the product correctly for the first time. Assemble all the components onto the tongues and carefully check whether everything is done correctly. Then you need to disassemble the table.

  1. When assembling the entire product, start from the bottom: attach the base to glue-coated dowels on the central and lower partitions, then 2 rounded shelves, upper partitions and finally the tabletop. When fastening all the table elements, use a wooden hammer.
  2. Wait a bit for the glue to dry.
  3. On 8 pieces 19 cm long, file the ends at an angle of 67°, so you can assemble an even octagonal shape from the pieces. Apply glue to all ends, fasten them together, press lightly and leave to dry. To prevent elements from moving, apply adhesive tape (such as masking tape) to their outer edges.
  4. Then you need to turn the table over and glue the resulting octagon from below to the base of the table - you will get a base. When the glue dries, remove the adhesive tape.
  5. Now attach the wheels. They are attached with screws to the base of the product inside the octagonal product; make sure that they are not visible from under the base, which, in turn, should not interfere with the table’s movement. You can control the height of fixation of the rollers due to the thickness of the supports for them. Make sure that all 4 wheels rotate easily and do not touch the base.
  6. Cover the ends of the product elements with furniture edges.

Finally, the coffee table can be decorated in an original way. Exist various ways decor, for example, mosaic, decoupage, craquelure, painting, etc. Also, to taste, the coffee table can be decorated with seashells, mirror elements, wood, etc.

A widespread option for decorating tabletops using decoupage. After completing it, you need to apply at least 2 layers of varnish to the tabletop.
