VAZ 2172 technical specifications. Five-door hatchback LADA Priora. Lada Priora - technical specifications, test drive and photos. Reviews of Lada Priora by its owners

The five-door Priora hatchback entered mass production in February 2008, a little later than the sedan of the same name. Along with the three-volume model, it underwent a planned restyling in 2011, as a result of which it received minor improvements in appearance and interior. The next stage of modernization happened in 2013 (the updated car debuted in September at the Tolyatti Motor Show), and if it affected the exterior tangentially, the hatchback got a completely new interior.

The exterior of the five-door Lada Priora is designed in the same style as the sedan. The front of the car is topped with teardrop-shaped optics, a radiator grille with a chrome frame and an interesting bumper with an air intake at the bottom.

From the side, the Lada Priora hatchback looks somewhat more dynamic than the three-volume model due to the layout of the rear part as a “liftback”, but otherwise it is completely equal. The rear of the Priora is distinguished by lights with LED elements and a bumper with a practical plastic insert in the lower part, and from a distance you can distinguish the models in different types bodywork can only be done using the windshield wiper blade.

The length of the five-door is 4210 mm, height – 1435 mm, width – 1680 mm. The wheelbase occupies 2492 mm of the total length of the car, and it rises above the road at a height of 165 mm (clearance).

The interior of the hatchback in terms of design, architecture and finishing materials used is no different from the interior of the sedan. It's still the same modern interior with a convenient location of the main control elements and budget plastics and fabrics.

The driver and front passenger have good seats with a good profile, which only lacks more pronounced lateral support, and decent longitudinal adjustments. Rear passengers are offered a comfortable sofa and a modest amount of legroom.

The luggage compartment of the Lada Priora in the five-door solution has a volume of 360 liters, and with the back of the rear sofa folded (separately) - 705 liters (this does not result in a flat floor). Hidden underground is a full-size spare tire and a minimal set of tools.

Specifications. The Lada Priora hatchback is equipped with the same power units as the “three-volume Priora”.
These are 1.6-liter units with a 16-valve timing belt and an in-line arrangement of four cylinders, generating 98 or 106 horsepower (145 and 148 Nm of peak thrust, respectively). For the “junior” motor, only a 5-speed “mechanics” is available; the “senior” one can also be equipped with a 5-speed “robot”. There are no differences in dynamic and speed characteristics, as well as fuel efficiency indicators for models in different body types.

Five-door Lada Priora in technically completely identical to the sedan: it is a “trolley” from the Lada 110 with independent front and semi-independent rear suspension (MacPherson struts and an elastic cross beam, respectively), ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, electromechanical power steering (in the cheapest version - power steering ).

Options and prices. On Russian market The Priora hatchback version is offered in two trim levels – “Norma” and “Lux”. For the “Norma” in 2015 they are asking from 428,000 to 473,000 rubles, and its standard list of equipment includes one airbag, heating and electrically adjustable side mirrors, ABS, power steering, power windows for the front doors and audio preparation.
The “luxury” Lada Priora in a hatchback body is offered at prices ranging from 499,100 to 525,100 rubles. The most equipped version is quite capable of competing with foreign cars - side airbags for front passengers, an automatic low beam activation system, a multimedia complex with a 7-inch screen, cruise control, parking sensors, an air conditioning system, a heated windshield and wheel disks made of light alloy.

The article talks about the best-selling passenger car in Russia - the Lada Priora. Where did the Priora come from, how does it differ from its derivative (“tens”), what characteristics does it have, and how is it planned (and whether it is planned) to modify and improve the Priora further - answers about all this can be found in the presented article.

Lada Priora is a Russian-made front-wheel drive car, the best-selling model of the LADA family, produced by AvtoVAZ OJSC since 2007. According to the European classification it belongs to class “C”.

VAZ Priora is a modernized car of the 10th AvtoVAZ family. The first batch of sedans was released in March 2007, and mass production began in April of the same year. Other body types appeared at Priora the following year: hatchback - in February, station wagon - in October 2008 (serial production began in May 2009). Around the same time, Priora completely replaced the Lada 110 family from the assembly line.

There is a lot of debate about what Priora is: a slightly modernized “ten” or a full-fledged new car. The history of the VAZ Priora begins back in 2003, when an American audit company, hired to calculate possible development paths for the plant, proposed relaunching the “tenth” family, designed back in the 1980s. Restarting means gradually, unit by unit, without stopping the conveyor, replacing almost everything in the car taken as a basis that can be replaced. The work is complex and will take more than one year: in order to imagine the volumes, I will say that there are more than three thousand parts in the “ten”, of which a little less than one and a half thousand were replaced in Priora. Almost half of the car is made differently - but is it really different?

Simultaneously with the “insides,” the appearance of the car also changed. The exterior is the work of Russian designer Sergei Taranov, the interior is the fruit of the efforts of designers from the Italian company Carcerano. And we must admit that such a Russian-Italian synthesis looks quite modern and stylish, and therefore invariably attracts the attention of potential buyers.

Specifications

The VAZ Priora has a modernized engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters (with eight- and sixteen-valve cylinder heads), almost one hundred “horses”. The connecting rod and piston group has been lightened to the limit, which has reduced power losses by approximately 9 hp. With all this, the engine complies with Euro-3 standards in the standard version, Euro-4 in the “export” version, and now the process of bringing the engine characteristics into compliance with Euro-5 standards has been launched. But the announced increase in engine displacement to 1.8 liters never happened and is not even planned.

The gearbox is mechanical, with problematic gear shifting during acceleration inherited from the “ten”. The gearless electric power steering is beyond praise: in traffic jams the steering wheel can be rotated with just one finger, and at speed the assistance of the amplifier disappears. Gearbox drive mechanism with bearings closed type and enhanced grip, as well as updated front suspension struts with barrel springs and rear suspension shock absorbers, distinguish the Priora from the “ten”.

A big and undoubted plus is that with the release of the Priora, driver airbags finally appeared in the basic configuration of AvtoVAZ models and a passenger airbag as an additional option.

Among the additional available bonuses, we should note heated front seats, air conditioning with climate control and a light and rain sensor - a trifle, but nice.
Unfortunately, the reliability and build quality of the Priora leave much to be desired. A survey conducted by Yuri Levada’s analytical center “Levada Center” clearly shows that Ladas (Priors and Kalinas) break down on average twice as often as foreign cars of the same price category. During the warranty period, 10% of Lada cars have problems with the suspension (versus 3-6% for inexpensive foreign cars), and 5% have problems with the gearbox. After the end of the warranty period, 10% of Lada cars have electric power steering and some other problems with the engine appear; 20% have problems with the suspension. And if we also take into account the fact that the Lada Priora breaks down on average more often than the Lada Kalina, the picture becomes completely bleak.

The vaunted rear and windshield seals do not cope with their task; the glove compartment opens and closes solely at its own request, and not at the request of the car owner. Cheap and strongly smelling plastic poisons the happiness of owning a brand new car for quite a long time - this smell does not disappear from the cabin for several months after purchase.

Modifications

There are three modifications of the Priora in serial production: sedan (VAZ-2170), hatchback (VAZ-2172) and station wagon (VAZ-2171). The VAZ-2172 Coupe (three-door hatchback) and VAZ-21708 Priora Premier (an extended version of the sedan) are also produced in small series.

Lada Priora - technical specifications, test drive and photos. Reviews of Lada Priora by its owners.

Lada Priora Hatchback (VAZ-2172) is a modern car from the Priora family, currently actively produced and modernized by AvtoVAZ. According to the European classification, it belongs to class “C” cars, that is, to the “lower middle class”. The first sedan cars went on sale in April 2007 with the aim of replacing the already rather outdated “tenth” family in production.

Officially, the car was announced as a new model, but even AvtoVAZ representatives admitted that the first Priors were only a deep restyling of the same VAZ-2110. Currently, there is practically not a single old element left in them, although the designs are very similar. In February 2008, production of the Lada Priora Hatchback began, which was supposed to replace the beloved VAZ-2112, and its sales started in April.

Already at the beginning of 2009, this family displaced the “tenth” family from the assembly line. The technical characteristics of this car are quite good for a modern car. The car is equipped with two engine options with a displacement of 1.6 liters. The difference between them is the number of valves. The version with a 16-valve engine is significantly superior to an 8-valve engine in a number of indicators, such as power, speed, torque, fuel consumption. For a 16-valve engine, the power is 98 hp, it develops 5600 rpm, and the car reaches a maximum speed of 183 km/h, while with an 8-valve engine the power does not exceed 80 hp, revolutions are 5200 per minute, and maximum speed is 172 km/h.

Characteristics of Lada Priora

The length, width and height of the car are 4210, 1680 and 1435 mm. The car has a spacious trunk of 360 liters with a folding rear seat. Big advantage- ground clearance, which is 165 mm, which is more than many foreign cars and is very useful when driving on uneven roads. The car consumes AI-95 gasoline when driving outside the city at a constant speed of 80 km/h in the amount of 7.2 liters for a 16-valve engine and 7.6 liters for an 8-valve engine.

Lada Priora was the first VAZ car where, in order to improve safety, the entire body structure was significantly changed - elements of the engine shield were changed, the roof and underbody were strengthened, a high-strength “double floor” appeared, the threshold was strengthened, and an airbag appeared. It's a reasonably safe car that scores well in European safety tests, but lags slightly behind its most modern competitors. The car has a good equipment to price ratio. The luxury package costs about the same as an “empty” foreign car.

This car is considered by many to be almost the most beautiful and fashionable Russian car, as the VAZ-2112 was once considered. The salon is quite comfortable. The front seats will be comfortable and suitable for people of average height, but people taller than 185 cm will not be comfortable in them.

Options and prices for Lada Priora in Russia

AvtoVAZ is characterized by a set of fixed configurations for each model. This car is available in 5 trim levels. The cheapest package is “Standard”. It now costs 301 thousand rubles. There are also 3 types of “Norma” configurations priced at 322, 355 and 353.4 thousand rubles. And the most expensive equipment is called “Lux” and costs 377 thousand rubles.

What they all have in common are safety and finishing elements. All cars are equipped with safety bars, an anti-theft system, and a driver airbag. The cheapest trim has only a weak 8-valve engine. It lacks power steering, ABS, climate system, electric rear doors, rain and light sensors. All this is available in the most expensive luxury version of the car. The upholstery is also different.

We can say about the car that it is already a quite worthy Russian car, standing close to foreign cars. The main disadvantage of this car is its quality, which constantly causes complaints from motorists. And statistics show that it is not up to par yet. It happens that parts on VAZ cars often fail. And servicing a Russian car may even be more expensive than a more expensive foreign one.

As for the advantages of the car, these are accessible and inexpensive spare parts, affordable service, cheaper intermediate maintenance, unpretentiousness and stronger, energy-absorbing suspension than foreign cars, excellent price/equipment ratio.

Compared to a foreign car, the Priora may be less safe and is often noisy. Sometimes gears don't shift clearly and the interior eraser creaks.

But many buyers are satisfied with the quality of this car. If you don't plan on driving very much and aren't too picky, then better choice than the Lada Priora, it will be difficult to find.

Lada 2172 PrioraPriora)- the second model of the Lada Priora family, embodied in a hatchback body.

The assembly of a pilot batch of five-door Lada 2172 Priora hatchbacks began on September 24, 2007.

The assembly technology was tested on pilot batch vehicles and options new to the Lada Priora family were tested. These include fog lights, heated seats, a front passenger airbag, anti-lock brakes and other additional equipment.

In February 2008, AVTOVAZ planned to produce 125 cars Lada 2172 Priora. From the third quarter of 2008, it is planned to bring the production of Lada Priora hatchbacks to its designed capacity - about 9,000 cars per month.

Stylish and respectable car Lada 2172 Priora created taking into account modern and promising Russian and international standards and norms.

The body lines of the Lada Priora are distinguished by geometric clarity, which gives the car the impression of lightness and swiftness. The design of the body and interior parts was carried out using mathematical modeling, which made it possible to achieve great accuracy and had a positive effect on the mating of body parts with minimal gaps and differences in surfaces.

The hatchback Lada 2172 Priora, which has already received the image of a youth car, in addition to its stylish appearance, has acquired features of sportiness, assertiveness and energy.

Lada Priora meets modern European safety requirements for protecting passengers in frontal and side impacts. Protection is provided by seat belts for each passenger, a standard driver's airbag, reinforced floor sills, side pillars, a roof with an additional reinforcement, and steel door safety bars. For the first time, safety elements for the driver and front seat passenger in the event of a side impact have been introduced into the door trim design - special damping inserts that reduce the concentrated load on the human body.

The completely new interior of the Lada Priora family, developed jointly with the famous Italian company AE, raises the comfort of the Russian car to a level previously available only to foreign cars.

For the Lada 2172 Priora hatchback, a rear seat with a backrest and cushion divided into two parts in a 2:1 ratio is used, which allows for the simultaneous transportation of long luggage and two or three passengers. When the rear seat is folded into a cargo version, a luggage compartment is formed behind the front row of seats, allowing you to transport luggage with overall dimensions.

Effective ventilation and a powerful heater with a built-in air purification filter maintain a pleasant microclimate in the Lada Priora cabin. Careful ergonomic study with the selection of aeroclimatic characteristics in the direction and dosage of cold and warm air flows guarantees high level comfort of the driver and passengers.

Indeed, thanks to qualities such as spaciousness and functionality, as well as a relatively affordable price, the car is very popular in its niche.

It’s not for nothing that we focus on the accessibility of the car. This is a relative concept, but the VAZ 2172 Priora hatchback has practically no competitors among other car manufacturers. An exception, perhaps, could be the predecessor of the VAZ 2172 - an analogue of the tenth generation, but by today's standards this model has long been outdated. As for the Priora, for a cost of about 15 thousand dollars you can purchase a luxury package, which includes: two airbags, ABS, air conditioning, full power accessories, athermal windows, rain and others useful features- very good for a domestic car. There is also a standard package; compared to its luxury counterpart, it looks poor, but it also costs much less.

Tuning of the VAZ 2172 in the form of technical evolution did not occur with the release of the hatchback. The car has the same familiar 1.6 engine under the hood. Contrary to expectations, the long-suffering gearbox was not finalized either - the five-speed manual still suffers from vibration of the rocker. The leaders of the Priora project once again assured that the transmission will still be radically improved and the problem will be eliminated. Another problem was folding the rear seat. As it turns out, only a well-developed person can do this. The trunk capacity is slightly inferior to that of a sedan, but with the backrest folded down, it can easily compete even with a station wagon.

Interesting fact: the VAZ 2172 is truly an international car, as has been said more than once. The French, Italians (interior), Koreans (air conditioning) took part in its creation, in addition, the music system was developed by Japanese specialists, and some engine elements were German.

To a greater extent, this explains the fact that the car’s interior as a whole can be considered successful; there are no notes of absurdity in it, as was the case with its predecessor, the station wagon of the tenth model.

As for the exterior, it received an expressive sidewall, as well as detailed rear fenders, and the tailgate is decorated with modern lighting technology. Thanks to such expressive features, the VAZ 2172 will outperform any other model of its generation in matters of harmony and functionality. The hatchback also left positive emotions on the move. It accelerates quite dynamically, holds the track well and turns quite confidently. The car's designers successfully introduced a crank mechanism, which allows to reduce mechanical losses to a certain extent, i.e. ensure optimal engine performance. As for the level of protection for the driver and passengers, the safety of the car complies with generally accepted standards, the results of crash tests confirm this.
